As I walked out of the auditorium, I automatically glanced around looking for Izzy. I spotted her off to the side of the building talking with Lucas. With a deep breath, I turned away. She was just talking to him. I had no need to get jealous, and I wasn't going to. Izzy had already came close to breaking things off between us, and I wasn't going to give her another reason to.
I honestly didn't think nothing of hugging Eden and kissing her on the cheek earlier. It was how I had always acted with her. I felt like a dumb ass for not thinking about how that would upset Izzy. Honestly though, I didn't even realize Izzy knew about Eden and me. It wasn't exactly a secret I was keeping from her, but things had happened so quick and I didn't even think to tell her.
With another glance around, Izzy was still talking to Lucas, and I spotted Eden off talking to Mrs. Lewis. I wasn't sure what I was going to say to Eden, but I told Izzy I would take care of it and that is what I plan to do. Without another thought, I headed over to where Eden stood talking. They both smiled when they saw me approach. "Mr. Reid," Mrs. Lewis spoke, putting her hand on my arm, "I would just like to personally thank you for taking such good care of our school today."
"My pleasure, Mrs. Lewis. I would hate to have the wrath of your husband on my hands if I let something happen to you."
She laughed. "Excellent point." She glanced down at her phone. "Speaking of my husband, I should probably call him again. He's been so worried."
I nodded. "Of course."
She turned to Eden. "It was nice meeting you, and if you have any questions, my door is always opened."
"Thank you," Eden smiled with appreciation at Mrs. Lewis' kindness. Once Mrs. Lewis was gone, Eden turned back to me. "Your mom called me and told me to tell you that if you didn't want her to come to this school and whoop your ass, then you better be picking up the phone when she calls or calling her back at the very least."
When I pulled out my phone, I realized I had twenty-four more missed calls from her. Earlier when I was texting Izzy, I already had fifteen missed calls from her. My mother was very persistent, but I just hadn't had the chance to call her back. "Shit," I muttered. "I'll call her back later."
I glanced back over at Izzy, and she was still talking to Lucas. I really needed to quit looking over there and focus on the task at hand. "Look, Eden," was all that came out of my mouth. I wasn't exactly sure where to go from there. I didn't want to hurt her feelings or anything.
She rolled her eyes at me. "Mason, honey, just spit it out."
"I think it would be best if we weren't as uh," I couldn't think of the right word, "touchy feely, I guess you could say, with each other." I pretty sure that wasn't the best way to say that, but it was all that was coming to mind.
From the look on Eden's face, I could tell that was the last thing she expected me to say. She raised an eyebrow, "Touchy feely?" She repeated.
"Yes, Eden," I rolled my eyes, "I realize how stupid it sounds, but that was the only thing that came to my mind."
"So basically Bel wants you to stay away from me?" She questioned.
"She didn't say that," I argued. "She just doesn't want us to be hugging up all over each other anymore, and I really can't blame her. I wouldn't want her hugging up all over one of her ex-boyfriends."
"Of course. Whatever Izzy wants Izzy gets, right?" She rolled her eyes and turned to walk away.
"Eden, wait," I stopped her. "What's going on with you? We still are going to be friends, but we will just be more hands to ourselves kind of friends. I'll still be there for you."
