t w e n t y - t h r e eFelix and Sam were sitting in the back of his mum's car while she drove in the front heading to Felix's house.
Felix had ended up staying for dinner again, the jokes and teasing of his undying man-crush for the boy sitting across the table were just as relentless as before, and annoyingly Felix sat there taking everything with confidence and lax stride. For the rest of the night they stayed upstairs in Sam's room, with Felix laughing at everything Sam possessed as he did the last time except finding more odd trinkets as he made his rounds, not getting over the Megan Fox poster that hung across the room from his bed that he just hadn't gotten around to take down after his sexual awakening. They watched a movie that Felix grunted and snickered at every opportune moment until Sam told him to shut up, only to be attacked by popcorn his mum had brought up.
It was nice.
"A left here, right?" His mum asked Felix, pausing the car a bit.
"Yeah, and then the first street on the left" Felix directed leaning slightly forward, peering out of the car window. "And just before that bus stop, that's me."
The car pulled to a stop outside of Felix's house, lights were on coming from the living room and the light hanging next to the front door.
"Thanks a lot for giving me a lift home," Felix said awkwardly when no one moved, "and dinner. Again. It was great." He shifted his gaze from Sam's mother to Sam, gazing at him purposefully as his mum told him it was no problem.
"Glad you could join us again, Felix. I'm sure Sam appreciated it the most."
"Mum!" Sam hissed, eyes wide as Felix belted out a laugh. "God, just be cool."
His mum rolled his eyes, laughing at herself.
"I'll keep that in mind," Felix smirked, eyeing Sam. "Well, thanks again. Goodbye."
He got out the car, adjusting his bag over his shoulder before walking away. Sam stared at him as he walked up to the front door as his mum started up the car again. Just as he found his keys and swung open the door Felix looked back and gave a nonchalant wave in Sam's direction.
Breath hitched, mouth hanging and fogging up the window Sam blinked for a second before eagerly returning the wave with a lot more enthusiasm than necessary, he watched as Felix laughed at him as his mum pulled away.
Felix was still laughing and waving as they turned the corner.
Shit.
"You are so gone," his mother told him, shoving his shoulder.
"Shut up," he whispered without malice. His mum just laughed at her son, shoving him lightly again.
They sat in silence on the way home, rain starting to hit off the window causing the wipers to go off automatically swiping at the spits of water in an odd timing as it fell heavier and heavier.
His mum was one of the few that hadn't said anything much to tease him, only fully embarrassing him when Felix was around or when she couldn't help herself. Mostly she would just get a fond smile on her face and kiss him on the forehead whenever his dad and brothers were assholes about it.
Still, it didn't mean she didn't say anything.
"It's getting pretty serious then, huh?" She commented, breaking the comfortable silence and in turn making it uncomfortable. Sam wished his seat would swallow him.
He went for a small noise at the back of his throat, it seemed safer than giving his mum a complete breakdown of what was happening. How he didn't know, and never knew what Felix was thinking.
