Sam had cut school multiple times, all for skateboarding events, but he had never hid out in his own house while he knew every kid in the neighbourhood were trapped in the local school building. He'd always been one for taking risks, taking the plunge and hoping to come out the other end unscathed.

Felix was different. He always had been.

From the moment Felix bewitched him with those brilliant silver eyes that dug into his soul like sharp blades and pulled out with a mountainous amounts of feelings Sam wasn't sure of putting, he had been a goner. He had turned into a coward. He wasn't even sure what it was. Mostly everything Felix did had Sam reeling, stumbling over everything in his path both physically and mentally.

And he didn't even know him, not really.

With this thought, Sam turned and screamed into his pillow, muffling the sound. Christ, if he could just have a normal crush- or whatever this was. It would have been easier to fall for Jake if anyone, at least his feelings would have been shot down before they went any further from how obviously straight Jake was. Hell, even Graham from Higher English would have been a better choice, at least Sam actually talked to him- sure, it was mostly about what the hell they were even taking about when they whipped out the Shakespeare, but talking nonetheless.

But with Felix, it was like his whole body was drawn to him. Like something inside Sam just wanted to drag his body over to Felix, kicking and screaming, no matter what, whenever he was near. It was maddening. Especially since they couldn't be any more different. Felix was scary, mean and dark and Sam... Sam just wasn't. And yet, Felix was still there in his mind. All day, every day.

There was a knock on his door, loud and brash, before it was open and his two brothers came in just as obnoxious as the knock.

"Hey, little bro," Pete greeted, jumping onto his bed beside him while Vince took the other side. "Mum said we had to take care of you since you were so sick and we had nothing better to do."

Just a glance at the three of them there, you would know they were brothers. They all shared the same tousled brown locks, all cut short, and the same brown eyes inherited from their mother framed with thick eyelashes and all had a similar jawline that came from their father with sharp cheek bones. There was no way any of them could say they were anything but brothers, they were each others double.

Sam frowned, turning from where his face was smushed into the pillow. "I don't need babysitting."

"Sure you don't," Vince grabbed his head and ruffled his hair. "That's why you've been moping about the house for months and are now sick after Jake, Mia and someone called Ellen have been blowing up the phones all of yesterday." Both his older brothers raised their eyebrows at him, calling out his bullshit.

"I am sick!" He protested feebly. "Sick of everything."

"Is this about that em- that boy, Felix?"

Sam froze before he flung his covers up and sat up like a shot, looking at his two brothers with wide eyes. "W-what do you- I mean, I have no idea what you are talking about-"

"Cut the crap, Sam," Vince rolled his eyes, smacking Sam over the head," you've been doodling his name about the house. It's embarrassingly pathetic."

Sam wished his bed would eat him- swallow him whole and never let him break the surface ever again. From the heat his face was giving off he was surprised he wasn't at least falling through and away from his two older brothers who were now leering over him with these looks Sam just wanted to punch off.

"Do you think mum and dad know?" Sam asked quietly.

"Definitely." Vince nodded.

"Most definitely." Pete nodded back until they they looked like lunatic bobble heads, only stopping when they realised their usual theatrics were not helping their younger brother with his mood, or rather making him smuggle himself with his pillow in hopes of a quick and painless death.

"Give me that," Pete tutted, yanking his pillow off him and flinging it across the room. "I don't see what the big deal is here."

That had Sam narrowing his eyes in suspicious, bolting upright to look at his brothers properly. "How much do you know?"

"Oh... not much," Vince acted innocent, looking at his nails.

Pete continued on," just that this Felix guy found hundreds of doodles and sketches of him inside one of your sketchpads."

Sam groaned again, flopping back down onto his bed, wishing he had his pillow so he could try suffocating himself again.

"Although I think this is a good thing that's it's now out there judging from what Jake and Ellen actually told us-"

"-Mia refused to say a word, the witch," piped in Pete, half-heartedly. Sam sang praises to Mia, he would never betray her in his whole life.

"-it is still kinda creepy Sam. I mean, I knew you were good at drawing but I didn't think you'd pour your heart out into it like some stalker chick diary."

Both Pete and Vince sniggered.

"I hate you both." Sam declared, flopping his arm up in a fist to show he was serious and flopped it down again, whacking himself in the chest. The news that his brothers knew about his secret hobby wasn't even enough to shock him any more. It was true though, the drawings were why Sam had been so reluctant for Felix to find out even though it solved a big part of his problem without having to actually take on any speaking action himself to the boy. He knew the book was creepy and weird, he knew that the amounts of staring and stalking Sam had took on towards the goth was a lot more concerning than a normal crush.

Maybe Felix was right- maybe he was a Freak.

"You got that right," Vince answered him, cutting him out of his thoughts and making him realise he been talking out loud. "But we wouldn't have you any other way, you little weirdo. Now come down the stairs and get something to eat before your stomach eats itself."

Cautiously Sam turned to Pete as Vince bounded out the room after giving Sam's hair another encouraging ruffle."He isn't cooking is he?"

"Dear God, no." Pete shook his head, shocked Sam would actually ask that." Mum actually wants to come home to house that isn't blown apart- nah, we ordered pizza."

"Awesome." Sam grinned, following his brothers out the room feeling a lot better than he had before.
