Carter P.O.V
"Class is dismissed"The teacher spoke I grabbed my books and walked out I looked down the hall to see Hayes and his so called crew i didn't even bother to look much longer I put my stuff in my locker and walked down the hall I spotted the doors to the football field I walked out there and everything was bright I could feel the sun light on my skin and hear the birds chirping.
"Your not suppose to be out here"Hayes voice said I turned around
"Whatever"I rolled my eyes walking around
"Come in or I'll have to drag you in"He smirked
"You can't touch me"I dropped my bag
"Watch"He grabbed my jacket trying to pull me in the school doors I kicked him and ran away I saw woods ahead of me I ran straight into them
"Carter stop!!"Hayes ran after me I looked back at him then all of a sudden I felt a sharp pain in my chest I stopped running only to fall on my knees I grabbed my chest in pain grasping for air
"Carter!!!!!"Hayes screamed he grabbed me
"C-ca-can't Bre-breath..."I spoke I looked at the clouds only to feel as I was getting sucked into them
Later.....
Beep.....beep.....beep
I opened my eyes slowly a bright light shined with in them I adjusted my eyes looking around I noticed i was in a hospital bed my mom was talking to the doctor and Hayes was sleeping with his ear phones in.
"Hayes...."I called him he didn't hear me I grabbed a pencil and threw it at him his eyes open
"Carter..."he came to my side
"Water"I called he give me my cup I drunk slowly
"It's good to know your ok I've been worried sick"He said I handed him my cup back
"What happened?"I asked Hayes looked away my mom then walked in
"My poor baby.."she kissed my head the doctor came in behind her
"Your awoke Ms.Williams"the doctor smiled I shook my head
"What happened?"I asked but the doctor looked at my mom
"Nothing honey just a little out of breath"She grabbed my hand I looked at the doctor she didn't say much she just left the room mean while mom was helping me pack up to go home Hayes been left after he heard I was ok.
2 hours later
I've been in my room all day it's like I didn't have the energy to move around much
"Honey I'll be back going to pick up your medicine!"she shouted upstairs I couldn't speak back I just laid there....after a while I heard a knock on my window I slowly got up and opened it Hayes came in with mail
"What's that?"I asked sitting back down
"You tell me!"he threw it at me I could tell he already opened it
"What's wrong?"I asked him
"Wait you don't know?"he asked me as solid tears ran down his cheeks
"Tell me Hayes"I raised an eyebrow
"Carter your dying....."Hayes spoke I held my breath I shook my head
"No.......there's no way"I looked at him his tears grew more
"Carter you have lung cancer"He broke down I covered my ears
"No no no!!!!"I couldn't stand the truth I opened the letter and read it and held my mouth
"Your mom didn't wanna tell you and right now she's in her car crying"Hayes sat next to me I begin to cry
"I'm dying"I said to myself Hayes held me
"What am I going to do"He held me
"I have lung cancer you can't be with me"I cried
"Ill be with you at all times Carter not matter what you have"He wiped my tears
"I'm going to die"I tried to catch my breath
"Don't say that please...."He held his face
"Hayes I'm dying I've been dying for a while now"I cried Hayes looked at me
"What do you mean?"He asked
"Maybe things are better this way"I wiped my eyes remembering what Wesley said
"What are you talking about?"He asked
"Not everyone is meant to live"I frowned
"Carter there's a possibly for you...all you need is a new set of lungs"He smiled
"Yeah Hayes! How? From who?"I asked him
"Carter you think that your allalone but your not I'm here no matter if we fight of not...if you die I'll fall apart I never told you how I felt about you"He said
"Well now is the time"I held my head
"Carter when I first met you my heart was drawn to you and I didn't know why so the only way to stop it was to be mean to you but as you can see it didn't work"He wiped his tears
"Hayes........"I said he looked at me
"I know what your going to say so I'll go"He got up
"Hayes please hold me I'm so scared......."I begin to cry Hayes grabbed my body hugging me tight
"And even through I'm unsure
About most things in my life
I am certain that I love you and will continue to love you forever"Hayes voice softly touched my heart
"Hayes show me what's it's like to be bad.....I don't know how long I have to live and I'm making it your job to show me"I smiled he nodded
