Chapter 15. The Little Mermaid.

Clearwater...

Eric Clearwater...

I saved your life...But you don't even have a clue.

What is wrong with me?! What's my problem? I just don't understand.

How can I be so completely infatuated with this raven haired hunk...

Oh God. There I go again.

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm obsessed.

This gorgeous soccer player has captured my heart. I'm absolute mush around him, except for when I basically saved him from imminent death.

He doesn't know that though, probably doesn't care.

But then again...Maybe he does. Maybe he's just waiting for the perfect moment to thank me, sweep me off my feet and dance off into a beautiful sunset with me.

With one perfect kiss and three simple words, I could be out of my old tale for good, I could stay with Eric forever, never having to relive the darkness of my original story time and time again.

The pain of having your tongue cut out a thousand times never really fades.

But just as it goes with my original story, Eric won't notice me. I'm sure of it.

I'll have to do something drastic, then he'll look at me for a second...And run off with another girl.

That's how my story always goes.

I suck.

And I don't have much time to actually get something done, time is constantly ticking.

"Hey, you alright?"

I look up from my huddled position on the sand, knees pushed up against my chest, arms wrapped around them as I watch the surf and ponder my woes. Kidanna is looking down at me, the hint of a concerned expression forming on her rich coffee toned face.

I nod, "Yeah..."

"Thinking about Eric again, aren't you?" She sighs, crouching down to sit in the sand with me, "Amy, hun, you've got to get your mind off of him. Have you even spoken to him?"

"No..." I mumble in reply, not particularly willing to admit this to Kida and to myself.

"Things will get better, I'm sure of it."

I look across at her, "You think?"

She nods, "Absolutely, he'll notice you, you're the most amazing girl I know."

I laugh dryly, "You're just saying that...I know I'm an absolute mess Kida."

She shrugs, her white hair billowing around her face as a soft breeze picks it up, "For now, perhaps. But you just need to forget about him for a while, let him chase after you. I know your story, you're the one that always has to make the sacrifices for him...We're in a modern world now, maybe it's the time for the tables to turn?"
