"We have got to do that again." Amy gushes, thinking back to the weekend, when we snuck out of her house and hit up Jack Rime's party.
I run my brush though my thick hair, "Hmm...I don't know. In hindsight, it was slightly risky."
"You've got to be kidding me. It was your idea last time."
"I know!" I reply, picking up a bottle of spray to set my hair in place, "But I don't know...How come you want to go so badly? Did you run into someone?"
Amy glances up at my bedroom ceiling and I instantly know whatever she says next will be a lie. I'm good at picking up body language, and with Amy, once she's glanced up after being asked a question, she's trying to make up a fake answer.
"No, of course not!"
I turn from my vanity and run my hands though my ebony hair, smoothing it down, "Spill. I know you're lying."
"Dammit." She mutters.
"You can't keep anything from me." I laugh, picking my favourite teal headband up off my dresser and walking over to sit next to Amy on my bed.
"I didn't exactly meet someone at Jack's party...I just saw them. From afar, you know? A little birdie might have told me he was throwing a party this weekend...For his birthday."
"Oh. So who is it?" I ask, "Do I know him, cause I know a lot of people."
She bites her lip, "Possibly...He's on the soccer team, but he's not like the other players, I saw him at the skate park near the beach the other day too."
So he's a slightly rebellious soccer player.
"Is it Finn Canter? The captain?" I ask.
She shakes her head, "Nah."
"Peyton?"
"No..."
I think for a few seconds, I know the entire team. Who in that team of guys could make Amy swoon so much.
Suddenly, it clicks.
"It's Clearwater, isn't it? Eric freaking Clearwater."
Amy begins to turn a shade of scarlet as the blood rushes to her cheeks.
"Oh my gosh Amy, you're so hopeless sometimes! What do you like about him?" I ask.
She shrugs, "I dunno...he just seems, different, I can't explain it."
I nod, "Uh, huh. Well, I guess I can't stop you from going after him. Although I'm still a little confused to what you see in him."
"He's gorgeous."
"Right..." I reply, trying to be supportive of my friend, although I'm slightly confused. But hey, each to their own, I suppose.
"I know you're just trying to be nice, thanks for the effort. But we're going to his birthday this weekend, wether you like it or not. Otherwise I'll just go with Kidanna and without you."
