Valentina's POV

"And then these creepy tentacles seemed to come out of the body builder's face, and-- and then the guy just vaporized." Clary stuttered while pacing back and forth through the living room while my mother and I were on the couch.

"I mean, we were drugged, right?" I could see Clary trembling, I got up from my spot to hug her. I was freaked out to but I don't know why I wasn't the one bouncing of the walls.

"What did the markings look like on the blonde boy you were talking about?" Mother was very calm about this, and Clary was frantcly shaking her head.

"Who cares, mom, okay? Are you even listening to me? I think I killed a guy." Clary's voice became louder as she spoke.

"Calm down." I said and she took a deep breath as I ran circles on her back to try and calm her. I guess I was being more mature because of this situation.

"Clary, Tina... did they look like this?' Mom suddenly got a pen thing similar to Jace's and ran it on her arm. She also had a marking.

"What the..." I spoke and Clary said the same thing a few seconds later. Mom then got up from the couch and came towards us.

"Everything you two saw tonight has a meaning and an explanation, and I've dreaded having this conversation with you girls since the day you were born." Woah, she's kept this secret for over eighteen years, wow, and I thought mom was a bad lair.

"What is going on?" I asked with desperation seeping though my tone, "Are we going insane?" I continued to ask and mom shook her head.

"No, you're not. But the protection is wearing. You both are eighteen now, and you two need to know the truth." She says.

"Protections? What does that even mean?" Clary questions, "Mom, you're scaring the hell out of me." she cries and I nod in agreement.

"I know and that's why I've put this off until the last possible minute." She explains but is soon cut off by dot.

"Jocelyn, look out the window. Magnus called to warn us. They found you." and by the time she finished her sentence mom was already near the window.

"Dot, it's time." Mom runs back over to us, "Okay, listen to me. You girls cannot be near me."

"What's happening?" I turn around and face the way mom is walking.

"I got a very powerful person angry." She explains.

"What did you do?" Clary ask and I look over at her face and see that she's worried for your mother, and I am too.

"I hid something from him and his followers." She grabs something from the shelf and then walks straight back to us.

"Followers? Why can't we just call the police?" I point towards one of the phones.

"The policeman you need to call is Luke." She says and then turns us both around, I look at Clary to see that mom puts on a necklace around her and then she does the same thing to me. "Keep this with you and think of me when you wear it." I nod her directions not wanting to question her but Clary has other ideas.

"Mom, this is not the time for more birthday gifts what the hell is happening?" She yells and then suddenly dot shows up in the equation with a bottle carrying green liquid inside.

"Trust your instincts. You girls are more powerful then you know." Mom grabs our wrist.

"Mom, we need to understand what's--" I was cut of by her calling out to Dot.

"Dot, open it." I turned around to see that Dot had a blue mist around her hand in then which opened the doors in our loft, "Everything I've done, every mistake I've made was because I love you two more than words." She rambles and I look at her, this wasn't good-bye, was it?
