Kaoru's POV

Any guy with half a brain could see that Kyoya was more than worried. He was pissed, to say the least, that any guy would hurt a girl like that.

Poor Haruhi had to leave the hospital room a few times, especially whenever Alaria woke up and groaned in pain. It almost seemed that she never wanted to wake up.

But who wouldn't?

Hikaru and I had a major flashback whenever we were guarding Kyoya and Alaria. We wanted so badly just to stay there and beat those guys some new skin, but Mori-Senpai and Hunni-Senpai "had it".

I was still in shock. Who the hell does that to a pretty girl like Alaria?

I sighed in thought; obviously them.

Hikaru and I were outside the hospital room in chairs right outside the door. We were both getting antsy, but we'd sit here until told otherwhise.

The hospital room door opened and shut quietly and Hikaru and I stood, ready to argue with Alaria that she needs to get back in bed, upset that Kyoya wouldn't have already have told her. But it was Kyoya himself, and, when he saw us, he sighed. "She's got major bruising on her abdomned and torso. Her nose is fine; the sheer force of the punch just made it bleed is all."

He explained it so easily, but we could see the anger in his eyes, the anger he was hiding so well.

"Kyoya!" Haruhi ran down the hallway to us, tears already welling in her eyes again. "Is she alright? Is she awake?" She asked quickly. I'd never seen Haruhi so worried about anyone. Not even herself. Alaria sure did have a grip on everyone.

Kyoya nodded. "She's in pain, but it's apparently bearable. She is awake, and it looks as if she's staying that way." He told her. Instead of running into the room like we all thought she would, she stared at Kyoya for a second, then hugged him, taking Kyoya by surprise. "Thank you for protecting and caring so much for Lari, Kyoya. It means more to me than you might think." She smiled up at him and walked past him politely and into the room.

Tamaki's POV

After Haruhi walked into the room, I looked at Kyoya. He was exhausted. Not in a good shape either. It's not that he was snappy or grumpy, he was just in a huge state of regret and denial, a state we don't usually see Kyoya in.

He was hiding it pretty well, but, when you've known Kyoya as long as I have, you can tell when he's "okay" and when something's rubbing his skin the wrong way.

Kyoya sat down on a couch in the hall, not too far away from Alaria's hosptial room. "She's changing into her clothes. The nurses washed them for her. I'm going to take her home and then I'll be off to my own." He told me as I sat down. I nodded. "Kyoya, I think it'd be nice to take another trip to the beach. Just keep it absolutely private this time." Kyoya eyed me suspiciously. "Oh, come on, Kyoya! Look at us! We're worried sick for the poor girl! We're all exhausted; Haruhi didn't even sleep last night! We all just need a relaxing day. Just to calm down and, you know, relax." I explained.

He considered it for a second, then sighed and nodded. "Yes, I suppose you're right, Tamaki. I'll deal with your father and we'll be off day after tomorrow; give Alaria enough time to heal."

Hunni-Senpai and Mori-Senpai walked up to the couch, standing there as if Alaria didn't just get the death beat out of her. "Is Lari-Chan alright?"

"Yup. Lari-Chan is just peachy!" Alaria?

Alaria's POV

Haruhi walked into my room whie I was pulling on my blouse. She saw my bruises and immediately gasped, causing me to sigh. "Haruhi--" She shook her head. "No, I came in here to see you awake." She let out a deep breath and took one in. "Kyoya's going to take you home, then we're all going home to get some sleep."

I sighed. I won't be getting much sleep, I thought to myself.

"Actually, Haruhi, would it be okay if I spent a few nights at your house?" I asked as I pulled on my jacket and buttoned the middle button of the three. Haruhi tilted her head to the side in thought, then pulled out her phone and nodded. "Yeah, Dad shouldn't have a problem with it. Just beware, he's a little more than worried about you." I nodded. Her Dad always looked after me like I was his own daughter.

I stood up and put an arm around my stomach. "I'll just tell Kyoya," I grunted as I stood, "That he needs to take me to my house and I'll just walk over to yours." Haruhi, once again, eyed me suspiciously. "Kyoya won't let you walk, Lari. No matter how close to my house you live." She giggled at the thought, I just shrugged.

Haruhi opened the door for me and, as soon as she did, I heard Hunni-Sempai ask, "Is Lari-Chan alright?" In a cute little voice. "Yup. Lari-Chan is just peachy!" I replied truthfully. No need to be sarcastic with them when they only want to help out, right?

They all turned to me, even Hikaru and Kaoru who were sitting at the door, and looked at me in surprise. I gave a low, pained chuckle. "You guys look so surprised. Sorry if I'm an absolute mess." I took a second to actually look at everyone. I turned around and looked at Haruhi, who was standing behind me. "Whoa, wait a second. Did any of you get any sleep last night?" I asked. Hikaru and Kaoru looked at each other and shrugged at the same time. Tamaki stood and shook his head, Kyoya looked half-asleep, so I didn't bother him. Hunni and Mori looked alright, but they looked a little tired too.

"Guys! You didn't have to waste sleep over me!" I complained. Haruhi helped me to the couch and I settled in between Kyoya and Tamaki. She took the only available spot on the hospital couch left; the end beside Tamaki.

Kyoya shook his head. "Yes, I did. I should've followed you, Alaria, I'm so sorry. And I didn't waste sleep; it's fine." He apologized and turned to me. Everyone got really quiet for a second, waiting for me to say something. I smiled weakly at him. "There's nothing you could've done that would've changed what happened. It would've happened eventually."

I thought for a moment. "Who's paying the medical bill?" I tiny sliver of fear slipped through my voice. If they left the bill to me, she's gonna-- "I already payed for it." Tamaki paid for it? I looked at my hands, suddenly embarressed. "Um, thanks, Tamaki. I don't think I would've been able to pay for it myself." I told him.

He just nodded. "Of course, it's alright." I smiled weakly.

Kyoya stood with a tired sigh. "Aright, let's be off." He said. I stood slowly, clutching my stomach in the process. "Um, Kyoya, would it be any trouble to take me to my house to get some things and then take me to Haruhi's?" I asked. He looked at me as if I'd grown horns when I began the sentence, but then he calmed.

I couldn't imagine what his tired mind was thinking.

"No, no problem at all, Alaria." He told me. I smiled at him and hugged Tamaki and Hunni-Senpai, Mori-Senpai messed with my hair, and Hikaru and Kaoru left me with a riddle to answer;

"This all things devour:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stone to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down."

The riddle seemed very obvious and, yet, at the same time, very difficult to understand. We were in the limo, sitting silently as I thought about the answer. Kyoya was half asleep beside me when I shouted, "Time! That's it!" Kyoya jumped and I looked at my lap. "I'm sorry, Kyoya. I didn't mean to scare you."

Damnit, Alaria! You're going to get him angry! I thought scornfully.

Kyoya sighed and shook his head. "Nothing's broken or damaged, so I think you're alright." I felt very, very bad for keeping him worried. I had been so selfish about my own pain that I hadn't taken the others' worry into consideration.

After a while, Kyoya fell asleep. I stared at him for a second, watching him sleep peacefully and quietly. There was some sort of fabric on his left hand, which was rolled out beside him. I grabbed the piece of fabric, but Kyoya grabbed my hand in his sleep before I could pull away.

I gave a small, quiet gasp, not wanting to wake him. Was he dreaming of some girl who made him happy? Of a girl he'd hold hands and walk with? His grip lossened on my hand and I slowly, carefully slid my hand out of his.

The limo stopped at my address and I sighed in relief when I saw that she was farther down the sidewalk. I got out of the limo and closed the door quietly. I tapped on the driver's window and he rolled it down. "I'll only be a second." I reassured him. He nodded and rolled the window back up.

I jogged up the stairs painfully and ran into my room. I grabbed my purple and white shoulder bag and stuffed pajamas, a sundress, four pairs of casual clothing, and then stuffed my toothbrush and toothpaste into a baggy and shoved that in there. I quickly brushed down my hair and walked back outside after changing into some comfortable black flats.

I opened the limo door and closed it behind me to find that Kyoya was still asleep. I'd hate to be the one to have to wake him. "Haruhi's house. I can only hope you know where it is." I giggled when the driver smiled at me and nodded.

The ride was short and silent, but I didn't mind. When the driver stopped at Haruhi's apartment complex, I thanked him and told him to thank Kyoya for me when he woke. I got out of the limo and watched it drive away to wherever Kyoya lived. I was wondering a lot of things.

But why, of all things, did he grab my hand?

I've found that it's easier to proofread on my iPhone than it is to proofread on the computer just because the writing screen is so much smaller! Kyoya's on the side!!
