Chapter 6: The party

Maria P.O.V

It was almost time for the party. I got my dress on and now I'm waiting for Markie. About ten minutes ago I met Demetri, my oldest brother. I'm super nervous. I haven't had an actual party since before my parents died.

"Okay I'm here. Wow you look beautiful Maria" Markie had just got here.

"Thanks. You look nice as well."

We started walking down the stairs, I could already hear people. "How many people are here?!" I asked in a yelled whisper.

"Uhm, a lot" he replied but before I could respond we walked into the room. I didn't even know this many people. Everyone got quiet when they saw us. Someone announced us but I was too nervous to really hear who.

"Maria, its nice to finally meet you." A woman came up to me. "I'm Cassedy. Zachariah'a sister." Gosh, does she ever beathe? "It's nice to meet you Cassedy." After her, many people kept coming up to me and Markie introducing themselves and wishing us a happy birthday. My feet were killing me from all the people I had danced with and I couldn't tell one person from the other.

"Here's some water Miss Maria" Celeste whispered to me. He lingered near me a little longer than necessary. "So how do you like the party sis?" Demetri asked coming put of nowhere.

"Lots of people. But I'm ready for it to be over. I feel sick." He looked at me with a worried expression."I'll be right back."

He came back with Markie not even two minutes later. "What's wrong?"

"I'm not feeling well."

They looked at each other and then just told me to sit down for a minute.

About thirty minutes later everyone left. I was happy to finally have them out. I felt super crappy. I had a major headache, and I felt sick to my stomach.

I got up and tried to go upstairs, I didn't get very far when I had to stop and throw up. I gave up and sat down at the bottom of the stairs. I had my head in my hands, it was getting very difficult to breathe.

"Maria? Are you okay?" I couldn't even focus on who was who.

"No" I managed to say between my labored breaths.

The next thing I know, everything is black. I can't see anything. I can vaguely hear people calling for me. My body feels like I've been run over and then sent to hell and back. I'm not sure when I just blacked out.

*hours later*

I woke up and my throat was on fire. I opened my eyes and then quickly closed them because of the brightness. "Maria...? ". Celeste was sitting next to me holding my hand.

"What happened to me?"

He went on room explain how I had turned and that luckily I slept through the worst of it. "I'm thirsty."

"Alright, I'll be right back."

A few minutes later he came back with a cup. "I turned off the light so that you don't hurt your eyes."

I opened my eyes and sat up. He handed me the cup and then took a step back. After I finished drinking he came and laid next to me." Your eyes are purple." He asisto out of the blue. "What?" I asked confused. He handed me a mirror and sure enough my eyes were purple.

Celeste fell asleep with his head in my lap. I didn't with the want or need to get up so I stayed anal rubbed his head.

"Hey, how're you feeling?"

"Fine now. Everything is clearer than before."

"Yeah" Demetri seems awkward around me for some reason. "So are you two a thing or...."

"Yeah we are." I never took my eyes off of Celeste.

After Demetri left, I fell asleep.
