-A Year Later-
I couldn't sleep.
All I saw was his face.
He was reaching for me, calling my name. Telling me to go on without him.
I sat up, I've been having the same dream and ones similar to it ever since he died.
"Mommy, mommy mommy!" The twins, squealed running in the room.
"Yes" I ask putting on a smile so they don't suspect anything.
"We caught a kitty!!" Blake all but screamed.
"Can we keep him!? Can we keep him!?" They yelled in unison.
" I guess," I say." Now come on let's go eat breakfast.
~ a few hours later~
The kids hadn't stopped running around playing with their cat but I was in too foul of a mood to really care. To say they were driving me insane would be an understatement. They seemed to get that I was upset but they could figure out why."Stop running in the house!" Markie yells, scaring them.
They run into the hallway squealing.
"Hey, want some tea?"
"No."
"How about toast?"
"Go away."
"You have to eat."
"No."
"Why?"
"You know why."
He sits next to me and holds my hand. I leaned onto him for support. This past year has been hell. Everyone and their mother want me dead, and to make it better, no one really believes Celeste was the murderer. He died for nothing.
"At least shower and go outside."
"Why?"
"Because you reek and you're paler than usual."
"I don't care."
"Well, I do. So get it together or I will bathe you myself." He says as he gets up and leaves.
I stared at the floor for a few moments before going to the shower and trying to think of any reason why I shouldn't just die.
As much as I hate to admit it, Celeste had been my rock. I had relied on him for everything. I was nothing without him. I get out of the shower and wrap a towel around me. There's a note on my pillow which made me nervous.
Walking over to it hesitantly it said: This isn't over.
I knew that handwriting. I hold back a tear as I struggle to get dressed.
My walk downstairs was awkward as everyone stared at me but tried not to be obvious about it. Maybe I should go outside. Try and be productive. Who knows anymore.
"I"m going into the garden." I announce as I get to the bottom of the staircase.
They look shellshocked but otherwise don't stop me. The sun warms my skin as I step out of the back door. I needed to be strong, if not for me, then for the twins. Celeste would want them safe and cared for. I'll do my best to stay strong. And if not, then at least I know I tried.
