My heartbeat didn't even get to reach its normal pace before it started beating faster again.
He averts his gaze from my eyes and stares at my lips before looking me in my eye again and licking his lips.
"Someone pass me a bucket," Kyle gags, making sick noises. At this I chuckle despite my burning cheeks.
Adrian gets up with a quiet groan and offers me a hand. I grab it and get up, wiping my clothes to get the Astro off.
"Ok, ladies, get inside for a last minute team meeting. Everyone's going to start turning up soon." Adrian glances at me one last time before following coach's orders and heads inside with the rest of the boys.
I turn to walk to the field and get a drink from the stall before the game starts in five minutes. I pay for my bottle of water and take a few sips waiting for the team to come out onto the field where they'll play the match.
"Whoa, someone turn on the air conditioning. There's some extra hotness in the room," a boy no older than me says walking in my direction, winking. He's got golden hair that falls onto his face with ocean blue eyes. He has a black gym bag slung over his shoulder and is wearing a red kit.
"You must be the losing team playing today," I smirk at my own cockiness.
"Darling, the only losing team is yours. Now where is that infamous team captain and his team?" the ocean-eyed boy asks.
"You mean Adrian. He's getting ready for the after party of his victory. Now, run along, you will be needing to warn your team captain of your competition," I warn.
"I am the captain and my team is here for one reason and one reason only- to win," he spits before walking back to his team of losers.
That arrogant bastard.
The bleachers are being filled with people by the minute. I walk over to the team's bench and sit down waiting for them to come out. They're taking forever.
I'd be sitting with Emily right now on the bleachers having a laugh but no, Coach Carr thinks it's necessary for me to sit here and do nothing while the boys play. It's their bench but don't ask me.
After what seems like years, the boys are jogging out onto the field. The wind is blowing their hair in all directions giving a sexy scene to watch and getting the girls ogling. All but me... maybe.
"Took your time," I mutter as Adrian is tying his laces on the bench.
"We need to make sure we're ready to beat their arses," he argues.
"About them, the captain is a stuck up bastard. Thinks he's going to win. Show him who's boss," I say.
Adrian chuckles to himself as he walks onto the field, starting the game.
It's been thirty minutes and there's still another fifteen minutes until half time and the opposing team are winning one nil.
Our players are doing fine keeping the ball away from our goal except for Adrian. He seems like he only has one motive for this match and he isn't putting his best into the game. Their goal was scored because Adrian kept the ball to himself without passing, trying to score a goal. However, the other team got the ball and began passing it to each other. Our team was still shocked at how their own team leader was making them lose to even register that the ball was coming to their goal.
Adrian seems to be pissed that they haven't scored a goal yet.
The whistle blows for half time and Adrian gets off the pitch before the others and plops down onto the bench, burying his face in his hands. As much as I don't want to break it to him, it's his fault that they are losing.
