The day dragged by slowly and now when I'm walking to Maths, I would much rather be at home.
Yesterday's function lasted until 8pm. Mark, Celia and I left early so we could decorate the bedroom for Samuel and Vanessa. It looked quite good but I wasn't there to see their reaction. Mark said they liked it, so I have to stick by his words.
I walk in and take my seat at the back of the room near the window.
"You're early," Mr Longman states once he sees me.
"Yeah, I had nothing else to do so I just came here. You don't mind me being here do you?" I explain.
"No, not at all. I hear you're taking over Jade's timetable?" I nod. "She was a bright student. Had a lot going on. I just wish she would have seen me before she left. Anyway, I'm sure I could still contact her parents and get through to her. But then that would be weird, don't you think?" he says.
"It may be a bit weird. But I'm sure she would appreciate your concern," I tell him.
The bell goes and he walks out of the classroom most probably to get his laptop from the group room. He's by far the best teacher ever. Most people say that old men in their 50's are the worst but he seems to prove it wrong. He was always there for me. I was so tempted to tell him that I'm jade just now but I fought not to. If there's one thing that you'll ever miss about secondary school, it would be the utmost care teachers give you despite not even knowing you much.
A few people stroll in, not many that I talk to. I just wait for someone I know.
'4:30 today I'll be round your house to pick you up. See you then. J' The text from Noah that I just got now says.
I look back up from my phone and see Adrian walking through the door. He's eyeing my desk and I'm pretty sure he's going to come and sit next to me. Behind him is Sasha. I quickly call her over.
"Hey Sasha! I saved you a seat," I call, pulling out the chair beside me.
She comes over and takes a seat. I look back up at Adrian to see he's stopped in his tracks and is just staring at me. I quickly focus my eyes anywhere but him as I see he moves to sit at the table next to the one behind me.
"How was your weekend?" Sasha asks me.
"It was great. My friend's brother's wedding was yesterday and the day before I was setting up the venue, which looked gorgeous by the way, and the day before that, we went out to a dinner. All in all it was good," I say.
"Yeah, I saw the pictures on Instagram. You looked beautiful by the way. I loved your dress. So simple, yet so beautiful and elegant," she compliments.
"Really? I didn't even know you followed me. I get so many followers that I can't even be bothered to check who they are. What's your name? I'll follow you too."
"Ok class. The tardy bell hasn't gone yet but I'm going to start the register because we have a lot to get through. Please remain silent," Mr Longman calls as he walks back into the room.
"Kate, do you have a spare pencil?" I recognise the voice as Adrian's so I don't reply knowing that he only wants me to turn around. I feel something being thrown at my back. I turn to see it is a scrunched up piece of paper then I look at Adrian who is staring right at me to get my attention.
Throughout the whole lesson, I keep ignoring the countless requests to turn around from Adrian and continue on the factorising lesson.
I get a text from Adrian, 'You can't keep ignoring me. I need to speak to you about yesterday.'
