Chapter 21: 1992

Louis and I walked out of the movie theatre a little earlier than the rest of them. We sat outside and waited.

"Chance, you do realize I'd never do this to Harry right? He's my best friend and I can't believe I even let us get this far..."

"So we can't be together?" I asked.

"I'm not saying we can't be together-"

"What are you guys talking about?" Harry cut him off, walking up to us.

"West, you need to choose," Louis said sternly.

"Choose what?" Harry asked.

"Uh..uh...which car I wanna ride in! Yeah!" I smiled. Louis gave me a look. I tried to ignore it.

"Alright well I'm gonna go to the bathroom, wait here," Harry replied. Louis was silent, still giving me the look.

"I wasn't ready! What do you want me to do?" I sighed.

"If you actually loved one of us, you'd pick," he replied.

"What if I do love one of you Louis! Can you imagine how the other one would feel? Say I loved you, how am I going to break up with Harry and just date you after what happened? Say I loved Harry, you'd be WAY pissed I even started this whole thing right?" I dug my face into my hands.

"Chance don't...." Louis sighed.

"What's wrong?" Harry came up to us again.

"I wanna go home..." I held my arms out for a hug. He wrapped his arms around me in that warm and comfortable way he always had. I dug my face into his chest and he held me tighter.

"We're going home right now okay?" he whispered reassuringly. Truth was, I didn't know who I wanted to pick...they were both so amazing in their individual ways. Harry slipped his fingers in between mine and began walking to the car with everyone else. I sighed silently and looked back at Louis who was looking at the floor. I looked back to Harry who was smiling contently. Well this was going to be a lovely mess.

At another restroom break at a gas station I decided to get some Arizona for the road. I pulled a kiwi strawberry from the fridge. Someone grabbed it out of my hands. I turned to catch the culprit.

"I'll buy it for you," Louis stated.

"Lou-"

"Oh just let me buy it!" he urged.

"Okay," I nodded as he walked with me to the counter.

"Is that all?" the lady behind the counter asked.

"And a pack of beer," he pointed to the fridge behind her. She reached back and grabbed a pack.

"ID please?" she asked.

"Sure," he sighed pulling out his ID. She scanned over it.

"Thank you Lewis..." she said scanning the beer.

"It's Louis," he mumbled. He payed and we walked out together.

"Thanks," I murmured.

"So you pick Harry?" he asked.

"How'd you guess?" I sighed.

"It'd be easier for you, you're already with him and it's obvious you can't choose anyway," he sighed.

"I wish I hadn't broken up with you in the first place," I stated.

"Trust me, me either," he admitted. I stopped in my tracks and looked up at him.
