Chapter One: Lovely <3

My best friend and I always hung out together. We were like family and we pretty much lived in each other's houses. Don't get me wrong, we don't DEPEND on each other. We could do things by ourselves we just choose not to.

"Hey Chance, catch!!" Stephanie screamed from behind me. I turned around and caught the football she threw at me. To answer your question, yes Chance is really my name. My mom was really into uniqueness when I was born so she named me something not many people are named. It's cool, but I'm tired of people asking me if Chance is really my name.

"So are we walking to Starbucks or what?" I asked handing her the ball.

"You know it!" she smiled. Stephanie and I were really energetic. Most of the time we were doubled-over laughing at each other's jokes. We were kind of loud (me more than her) and really weird, but isn't everyone these days?

"The usual?" I asked. Stephanie and I would always walk to a different place after school everyday according to what day it was. Today was Starbucks Monday, Tuesdays we usually go to the park because Tuesdays are our short days and we're only expected to be back by at least four most days. Wednesdays we walked to the movies to pick a movie for the weekend so we would have something to look forward to if the week was dragging by forever. We usually went by the two dollar theater so we could go there often without blowing too much money. The only problem with that theater was that it showed movies that had just gotten out of theaters so if we wanted to watch a new movie we would have to wait longer. Thursdays we went to the fountain near the park and did homework because both of our parents worked late shifts that day. Stephanie's dad would work until eight and her mom wasn't around anymore. My dad worked until eight thirty and my parents were divorced and my dad got me Thursday through Monday morning. Finally, Fridays we had our weekly sleepover and planned most of the weekend.

"Mocha Frap please?" I asked putting my money on the counter. We didn't buy something everyday, sometimes we just came here to sit.

"So Chance, crushing on anyone this year?" Stephanie asked with a mischievous grin on her face.

"Naw, not really digging anyone this year. They're all so full of themselves or stupid," I rolled my eyes.

"Aw c'mon! Not even one of the seniors?" she asked.

"Nope," I shook my head "What about you?"

"Hmm I think I might have my eye on a guy in my drums class," she shrugged

"Well?" I asked

"Well what?" she asked

"Spill! What's he like?" I smirked

"Oh um, he's tall and got brown hair..." she looked to the door

"You haven't even talked to him have you?" I asked rolling my eyes. She scoffed.

"I have too! I just didn't get many words in," she replied

"Well why not?" I asked

"ALL the girls in my class flirt with him!" she sighed.

"Steph! You're ALWAYS the first one to flirt with the guy you like and no one can ever stop you! Why is it so different now?" I asked.

"Because he's...different" she replied.

"Like how?" I asked sipping my drink.

"He's not really INTO anyone" she shrugged.

"Steph, is he gay?" I asked
