Chapter 4: Hazza!
I walked to the tree slowly. Something caught my eye and I stopped suddenly. I backed up and looked at what caught my eye. The most popular girl in our school was talking to Harry. I watch as she flirted with him and at first he flirted back, but then he began rejecting her. I guess he realized how much of a conceited brat she was. I laughed a bit at that and began walking the rest of the way to the tree.
"So Chance, that grin on your face is mighty wide! Anything you want to tell us?" Stephanie hugged her knees to her chest smirking like she knew something. She had the wrong idea.
"Harry just pushed Valerie away," I smiled
"HE pushed the she devil away? Not shocked! He's too good for a desperate 'pretty girl' like that!" she spat, putting air quotes around 'pretty girl'.
"Oh yeah? Well who's he good for?" I asked plopping down next to her.
"Hey guys!" Harry approached us.
"Hey Harry," I waved
"So Chance tells me you've met the school's most loved, how was it?" Stephanie pretended to gag.
"Couldn't have made the gesture any better. Worst girl I've ever met! And I flirt A LOT! She's so...just no..." Harry shook his head. I burst into laughter. It was nice to hear someone dislike her for once.
"So guys, almost Friday!" Stephanie cheered.
"Yes!!! I can't wait to see the movie this weekend!" I screamed
"Yeah! Oh my gosh! Harry, want to come with us?" Stephanie turned to Harry.
"Sure, if its okay with my best friend," he nudged me in the side.
"Of course!" I smiled.
"So what movie is it?" he asked
"The one we picked out yesterday after school. The horror movie mwahaha!" I laughed evilly
"Hmm, horror? Isn't that a little too scary for young ladies like yourself?" Harry raised his eyebrow
"Well we have a gentleman to protect us," I winked and leaned over and whispered, "and I'm sure you'll be especially protecting Stephanie."
"I keep telling you, you have the wrong idea!" he rolled his eyes, but I saw the tint of a blush on his cheeks. He obviously wasn't good at keeping his little crush a secret.
"Sure," I remarked sarcastically
"No really, I-"
"Oh my gosh!!!" Stephanie screamed, cutting Harry off.
"What?" I asked
"I have to freaking tell you something!!" she screamed even louder
"Well OBVIOUSLY!" I replied
"Kevin Harvey and Michelle Campos are thinking of going out!!!" she wailed
"Awww, who told you?" I asked
"Adrian," she pointed next to her as Adrian nodded in approval
"Steph, Adrian's told me LOTS of things...like that he's met a unicorn before...are you sure you want to trust him on that one...?" I asked
"Well that's something that you KNOW is a lie...this he wouldn't joke around about," she looked down.
"I'm sorry Steph..." I side-hugged her.
"Its okay...its not YOUR fault," she sighed. I really wanted to tell her that Harry liked her. I knew that would cheer her up, but that would make WAY too big of a mess, and I couldn't tell a friend's secret, even if it would make someone feel better. It's not worth risking trust. He might never want her to know.
