Steve in the darkness
I sat on the ground thinking of how these people were down here. I really went to thinking for a while. If Edward was the last one to die, and he killed himself then he could have drug them down here. "Edward. Did you do this?" I said. Two taps. Great. Not I had to find out who was in the picture that I missed. I got up and looked at the rat bones. Why rats. Out of everything it had to be rats. There was a path in it so I followed. I still feared I would find the Grayson's and Joeys remains down here. I followed making sure I got all of it on tape. This room was huge. The path led on forever.
The bones stopped a few feet from the wall. I looked around. I didn't see another door. I leaned on the wall thinking about what to do. I was so deep in this place I didn't want to go out just yet. As I put more weight on it I heard the bricks moving. I jumped off thinking the walls were collapsing. I looked and it was fine. I pushed on it again and a cutout of bricks slid backwards. It led in another room. I looked around and found a old lantern. I took it, had oil in it. I took my matches out and lit the wick. It took a few seconds to light and I adjusted it to the brightest it could be.
I sat it down on the floor and looked around the room. It was an actual room. It had a desk and chairs and books. There was more lanterns and candles all over the place. I lit all them I could and walked around to the desk. There was papers scattered about the top. I glanced through them to see if there was anything interesting. It was really nothing just a bunch of stuff telling about the houses structure and the colors of paint. I opened the top drawer and saw a thick book. It had all the names of every guest that ever stayed in the house. I flipped through until I saw a pattern. There was a person by the name of Steven who would stop by every month. Around the year of 1823 Stevens name would be next to Joeys. I put the book in my back pack and explored more drawers.
The bottom drawer had a bunch of drawings. They looked like a child's drawing. All of them were of the family and guests. There was a small girl, Abby. There was a boy, Drew. There was a woman Anne. And there were two guys. One was Edward and the other was Joey. The farther in the stack I got the more a third man came in. But he was drawn in a odd fashion. Not really recognizable . Maybe it was Steve.
I tucked them in the guest book so they would be safe and zipped up my back pack. I turned around and saw a shadow run across the room. My heart froze. The atmosphere got hot and I had a very bad feeling. I stood there a still a possible. If this was what I think it was then I was really in trouble.
The longer a stood there the worst I felt. All the sudden a horrible, absolutely horrible, spine ripping scream came from right behind me. I was paralyzed. "Run" a voice said. I couldn't move. "RUN!!" It said again and I felt something push me down. I rolled over and looked around me. All the lights were out. I felt a push again and I didn't have to think twice.
I ran as fast as I could to the black door. I opened it and scrambled out down the tunnel. I could still hear screaming behind me. I ran as fast as I could until I saw the door opening to Abby's room. I jumped up and out. I slid the door back over it and laid on the floor. My heart was pounding and my head was spinning. I was scared and alone. My hands were shaking as I turned all my stuff off and looked around. Hoping I was safe I rolled over and got up on the bed. "Oh my God what just happened" I said.
In the back of my head I knew. I knew exactly what everything was. But I didn't want to make myself believe that Edward was saving me from a demon.
