The next morning I woke up to the annoying sound of the alarm clock. "Nana get up." I said. She rolled over and I got up to take a quick shower. I been thinking. I don't hate this place. But it still makes me beyond uncomfortable to be here. And I really don't like the fact that there is is clear shower curtain and if you opened the door then everyone in the kitchen could see you.I hopped in and washed my hair, shaved my legs and underarms and finished washing my body and hopped right out. We were going river rafting and I didn't want to have Harry legs going there. I wrapped up in a towel and went in our room. Nana was still sleeping. I grabbed my clothes and got dressed. My hair didn't really matter so I put it up in a bun. "Nana." I said gently shaking her.
"I'm getting up" she said slowly moving over. I went back to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Just as I was finishing up I heard about 20 different sounds of shattering glass in the kitchen. I sit my toothpaste out and ran to see. Sure enough there was glass everywhere on the floor. Bernie came from his office and looked around the floor then at me.
"What did you do?" He said. "I didn't do anything. I heard it and came running in here" I spat back. He looked at the floor then went and got a broom. I looked in his office door. There was a key hanging on a nail. Was that the key to Abby's room?
"Are you just gonna stand there?" He said. I defiantly wasn't going to help him. I turned at walked back in our room. "What was that" nana said. "A glass fell" I said walking passed her. "A glass ? It sounded like all of them" she said peeking through the door. Why would all of them fall? All at once like that. I knew I need to know but I really had to get ready.
After about 10 minutes we were in the car on our way to go rafting.
--3 hours later--
We went back in the car. We were both soaked. And stunk. But it was fun. We went through these waves and got soaked. If you don't think a river can have huge waves you haven't seen anything. Anyway, we stopped at a beach and ate lunch and walked through this subzero water. I am not kidding. If you had an ice bath before that was what is felt like but it was water coming from about 6 different waterfalls on the mountain.
Anyway, we stopped and got some food and went home. As we pulled up I saw one of our bedroom windows were up. "Did you leave pull the window up?" I asked nana. "Do what? Um. No I don't think so" she said not even looking at it. We went in and rested. I went over to the window and put it back down. Just before I turned around I saw something carved into the window. It was a pentacle. I looked at it some more. No way.
I looked back at nana. Her being the Christian she is, I could never tell her such a thing was imprinted on our bedroom window. I pulled the lace curtains over it and went over to my iPad and put it in my notes. I went over to the bathroom door and looked in the kitchen to see if Bernie was there. No sign of him. I slowly went to the office door. I could not hear anything so I opened it. No one. I looked for the key I saw before. There it was. I grabbed it and shut the doors. Looking all around before moving, I went to Abby's room. With my hopes high I slid the key in. Clink. It was unlocked. I slowly un rattled the chain and went in. The smell and atmosphere of the room was enough to give me chills.
I looked around. Bernie moved the dresser back over the door to the tunnel. Like I wouldn't remember where it was. I moved it over and opened it up. I had to admit I was anxious to go back down there. Especially what happened last time. And I was not ready. I needed to get my stuff. I closed the door and went around the room. Everything seemed the same. It was funny to think. This house is fine. But under it is awful.
I went back out in the hall and chained the door back up. But I didn't lock it. I put the key in my pocket and went back to our room. What if every room had a tunnel? What if there was one in ours? I thought as I walked in. The first place I looked was at our fireplace. It was not there. Then I looked in our closet. No. Where could a door be? Then it hit me. What if it was under the bed. Nana was on her computer not minding me so I crawled under and looked around. No door. I got up and laid on the floor. Nothing.
I was at a loss. I looked under the bed again. My bag. I reached for it and drug it out. The holy water was still there. All 5 of them. They were small bottles but it didn't matter. I got my EVP recorder and my head phones and listened to the last time I was in the tunnels. I remembered it all. There was these rat bones and the wall that moved. And the most horrific part was about to come. The screaming.
I turned it off. My mind was racing.
