Passing
When we pulled up at the church almost everyone as gone. "Where is everyone?" I asked. "Well likeus, they only paid to stay for a week, tonight we will be leaving to go home" she said. "What?! Tonight??!" I raised my voice. "Yes tonight, we can't stay here no more because we only paid for a week. I'm sorry. " she said and got out of the car.
Man, I have less that 24 hours to get the bones of 4 people to a cemetery and bury them and come back. I got out and followed nana. I had to find a way to stay here. I had a plain but I didn't like it. But if that is what it was coming down to then I would do it. "Nana can we please stay just a day longer? I mean we aren't even in the house anymore!" I said following her in the church, down the hallway.
"Gretchen, let it go. We are going home tonight. I thought you didn't like it here anyway." "I do. I like it here. I don't wanna leave" I said. She turned around. "Lord child you are strubron. I'm sorry but today is it, no more about it" she said and turned back around walking up the stairs. Well, that does it. I am gonna have to do plan B.
I acted normal the whole time we were in the church. Helping her pack up and all. I was on my iPad and trying to seem like I was me again, but really, I has this flood in me trying to break from the dam holding me back. "Nana" I said breaking the walls, "if you were sent to do a task involving saving someone's soul and helping anyone else who may need it would you do anything you could to help them? Like if you KNEW you were the only one sent to do this one task". She looked at me.
"Well if I was the only person and God sent me to do something, then yes I would" she said. How could I explain to her that that is happening? How could I tell her without her thinking I have lost my mind? And that is where plan B comes in.
"Are you hungry? Come on let's get something to eat" I said. "We just ate" she said. "Well I am still hungry" I said going to the door. "I will be back" and walked out. I went down to the kitchen. There was cabinets with lost of different labels on them. It was a good thing too because I would have been down there forever. I got some sandwiches and lots of water bottles. I got a can of beans and heated it up. I put it in a bowl and put everything on one big tray. I took it up to our room and sat it down. "What are you doing?" She asked.
"Try this" I said and grave her a half a sandwich. She took a bite, then another until she had the whole thing down. I kept giving them to her until she couldn't eat anymore. "Are you thirsty?" I asked. "Yes you got something?" She said. I gave her a bottle of water. She had it halfway drank when I give her the second. "What you trying to do? Fatten me up?" She said. "No" I laughed taking one of the last sandwiches. "I knew you were still hungry" I lied. I knew she was full when I gave it to her, but she is like a billy goat, she eats anything.
It was 1pm and time was running out. I got back on my iPad and made some notes. " I am going to the bathroom I will be back" nana said. Ok. This is it, time for action I thought. I got a cot and laid it down near a window where it was warm but sun didn't touch it. I got blankets and pillows and a pair of socks. When I heard her coming back I grabbed my case that had my gear in it. I hid behind the door and waited. "Please let me do this right" I half said half prayed. When she came in she dint see me and I sowing my case and hit her perfectly on the side of her head.
She stood there for a minute and I threw the case down running over to her ready to catch her. She fell to the ground unconscious. If I did this right it should last for hours. Enough to make it to tomorrow. I drug her over to the cot, put socks on her, put her head on the pillow and bundled her up really good with blankets. She has enough nutrient to keep her ok. I bent down next to her. "I a. Sorry, but I have to help these people".
I got up and locked the door as I grabbed my things to go out. I couldn't quite believe what I did. I looked at nana as I shut the door. I walked down the stairs back outside. I walked down the road until I got to the farm I was at before for my stink product. I remember seeing a old truck and my dad had one just like it back home. I walked over to the barn and to my relief the cows were no where to be seen. I crawled under the fence and went to the back of the barn to the truck. I got in and found the keys in the glovebox.
