Chapter 7
I paced back and forth in my room. I peeked outside the window. Lincoln was no where to be seen. I tried to keep myself from thinking about him. Reminding myself that it was not possible to be friends with him. No Trinity. It's not fair on him, not fair on you and it's not safe for anyone. Uggh. Sure I would never go out with a guy so full of himself and cocky, but he was pretty much the only person I had talked to aside from Alex and Paul, for 2 years. Man, did I really miss human contact. Did that sound weird? Yeah, that sounded wierd.
I sat down on my bed, tucked my knees up to my chest and rested my chin on my knees. I stared at the wall, for who knows how long. Right at a wall full of sketchs. The colours popped at me, but nothing really registered in my mind. Black, grey, white. Some of the paper was even yellowing from time.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
"Come in" I mumbled. The door slowly opened and Alex popped her head in. "Trinity, dear, are you ok?" I looked up at her, tryingto look reassuring. I nodded and replied, "I'm fine." She slowly walked to me, perching on the edge of the bed next to me. She looped an arm around me. She whispered in a soothing voice, "I know it's hard. Trying to stay away from people. Not being able to have any friends. I saw you talking to that boy earlier." I looked up at her. I thought I was ready to cry. Luckily I blinked back the tears.
"It's ok Alex. I won't get close to him. Promise." I put my hand up next to my face, as if it were a scout's promise. I rested my head back at its position in my knees. I felt Alex's arm around my shoulders tighten a little. Was she always this caring? Probably.
Eventually she let go and walked to the door. She opened it, before she left she said, "Dinner's nearly ready." We exchanged smiles and she left. As I wa left in silence to confront my thoughts I decided on one ting and one thing only. I had to stay away from Lincoln. Exactly hw easy that would be, I wasn't sure.
I bit into the moist chicken, Alex had cooked. It was delicious. The chicken tasted amazing. The various boiled vegetables dotting my plate were nearly finished. There were peas, carrots, beans and even some potatoes. I gobbled the rest down and helped pack up the table.
When the dishes were washed and the table was spotless, I marched back to my room. I opened the door and shut it behind me. Why is it so stuffy in here? I thought. I opened the window to let some air in. I opened the blinds slightly and took a seat at my study desk. I stared at the stack of homework on the table. Math, English, Science. Uggh. I picked up one of the sheets and started on the array of questions. Fractions. Inequations. Algebra. Nothing to hard.
When I finished the math, I continued onto my english, then science. As I finished my report on cells, I heard a rustling at my window. I turned around, expecting it to just be the wind, but it wasn't windy and there wasn't even a breeze.
Suspicious, I moved over to the window and peeked outside. No one, but there was a white envolope sitting on the window sill. Trinity, was written in small neat writing. I eyed outside, looking for any sign of life. Nothing. No animals. No people. I shrugged and pulled the window shut.
I took the envelope back to the table, sat down and gently opened it. Careful to not rip it. I pulled the letter out. The writing was neat. Very neat. There was a beautiful cursive tilt to it. I started reading it.
Dear Trinity,
Look Trinity, I'm new in town, and I know we didn't get off on the right foot, but I was wondering…if you could ever forgive me for my actions today in class. I should've apologised earlier, but I guess…better late than never? Umm yeah… So mind if we start over? Let me begin.Hi, I'm Lincoln. I'm 18. My favourite NBA team are the Mavericks and I would really like to get to know you.
So this was about where I started blushing like a lovestruck girl. NO!!! Trinity. Kastella. Do not give in to his flirting. I continued reading,
Would you ever give me the chance to get to know you? Please? Ok…well I guess I'll see you at school tomorrow.

Click. I turned around and saw Alex standing at the door. "Hey, what's that you got there?" She eyed the paper, then locked gazes with me. I froze and stuffed the note into the small trashcan under my desk.
"Ohh nothing. Just some scrap paper." I turned around keeping my eyes on the ground as I sat at my desk, trying my best to act natural.
She walked over to me, slowly. I could just hear the smirk in her voice. "Oh really?" I pursed my lips and replied, "Yep."
I could feel her breath on the back of my neck. "Ok then." I heard her walk over to the bed. "So…" ,she started, "Tell me about Lincoln." I soun the chair around and stared at her wide-eyed. "What about Lincoln?" She eyed me suspiciously, but a smile was still plastered o her face.
"Well…he's been outside on the porch for about 10 minutes, looking for you." I groaned and threw my head back, looking at the ceiling.
I got up and trudged to the door. I flung the door open, and sure enough Lincoln was there, with his fist up, about to knock on the door. I moved back a few steps, crossed my arms over my chest and glared at him.
He stared at me, bewilderment evident on his face. "T-trinity." I raised an eyebrow, "Yes? What do you want Lincoln?"
"I-I j-j-just," he started stammering, "Uhh…Hi?" I rolled my eyes and stepped forward towards the door. I took the handle and stared closing it, saying, "Goodbye Lincoln." Before the door met the lock he wedged his foot between the door and the frame. How cliche. Wasn't he aware that it actually really hurt. I opened it again, slightly. "What ever it is, it can wait until tomorrow. Good night Lincoln."
"Wait. Trinity. I just had to…uhhh…it can wait, I guess. I'll see you tomorrow then?" I nodded, rolled my eyes and slowly shut the door. I felt an amused smile come across my face. I looked down and chuckled.
When I turned my head up, sure enough, Alex was standing there. Arms corssed, eyebrow raised and smirk on her face. "Alex, I know. I can't get close. I promise I'll try not to get too attached." I started back to my room, as I passed her she grabbed my shoulder, and stirred me to the kitchen. She took a seat at one of the seats and gestured for me to do the same.
I followed her and asked, "Yes Alex?" She gave me a small smile. "I don't want you to avoid Lincoln. I understand that this goes against everything I've sadi before, and you'll have to be careful, but Trinity, do you think I haven't seen how lonely you are? You're not a normal girl, I know that, but you deserve to have friends, and I think Lincoln would make a good friend." I smiled at her and nodded, "Ok Alex. I'll be careful, but I'll give it a go." She smiled and hugged me shortly, but tightly.
I smiled at her, got up and walked to my room. I sat on my bed and stared out the window, looking over at Lincoln's house. Lights were still on. Suddenly, Lincoln appeared at one of the windows. He looked over, in my direction. I gave him a small smile, that he quickly returned. We sat there, staring at eachother for a while.
I picked up my art book. I scrolled a quick message, Goodnight Lincoln :)
I flashed it at him, A wide smile spread across his face and he turned around. In a minute, he grabbed he flashed me a sign, Goodnight Trinity.
An even wider smile spread across my face. I walked over to my window, waved and pulled the curtains closed. I lay back down on my bed.

I stared at the ceiling, in the dark, smiling like an idiot. I turned over to my clock. The green figures flashed, 10pm. So I've been lying here smiling for an hour. Ok Trinity. Stop smiling. Go to sleep.
I shut my eyes and within minutes I was asleep. That night I slept peacefully, dreamless. Great. I needed all the rest I could get, to face Lincoln.
