The dark haired hero grabbed my hand and pulled me along with him as we headed for the door. Joe began chasing after us. I screeched loudly and my hero's hand slipped from mine.
"Run Jess!" He exclaimed, he gestured for me to run on. I couldn't thought my legs were as wobbly as jelly. I wasn't about to let him slip away from me, no matter how little I knew about him. I stopped and watched as he approached Joe. They were similar in size, obviously it was too similar to call who was going to win. Who would win? I had no idea.
Not one of them noticed me as I stood watching them circle each other with dominance. They were too focused on the fight they were about to have.
Joe went in first, pushing Mr Mysterious back. My hero launched back and struggled to steady himself. He leapt at Joe and began throwing punches. Joe dodged each one and laughed.
"As if you could outsmart me." This made Mr Mysterious angry and he gripped Joe into a headlock. Joe faltered and seemed a little shocked, shocked that Mr Mysterious managed to force him to back down.
Mr Mysterious kicked Joe in his back. Joe yelped in pain but wriggled from Mr Mysterious' grip.
"Joe, stop!" I shouted. They both stopped to stare at me.
"Run Jess!" My hero shouted "now!" I thought about following his orders but I couldn't just stand there and watch him suffer. I ran in, kicking Joe where the sun doesn't shine. He fell to the floor permanently paralysed.
"Jess, get in the car now!"
At that point I ran, watching as my hero began to circle Joe, preventing him from following me.
I wandered outside and hid in Joes car. The door was open. I tried to warm up a little, the frosty breeze was biting at my inflamed veins. I began to search for the keys. I couldn't find them though, I knew I wouldn't find them easily.
Two minutes later a figure emerged from the door of the building. I couldn't tell if it was Mr Mysterious or Joe because of their similar build and height. Instead I just sat back and waited. Waited for either hope and destiny or danger and trouble.
The figure neared me and I kept my eyes shut as it opened the door.
I sighed a breath of relief.
It was Mr Mysterious.
He leapt into the drivers seat and stuck the keys in the engine.
"Where did you get them?"
"From his pocket. He's still on the floor."
"Will he be okay?" I asked.
"Jess, he just tried to kidnap you. Are you seriously asking if he'll be okay?"
I have him a serious look.
"He'll be fine, we need to get out of here!"
He pulled out of the parking space hurriedly and began to drive down the abandoned road.
Minutes passed before we could see nothing behind us. It was like a big, black nothing.
Then I realised as I saw the outline of it.
A gigantic, menacing, doom-filled van was following us.
Crap.
