Even though I didn't know wether Melanie would be there I knew where I was headed.

It seemed so long ago I was just a naive, unaware, undecided aspiring writer that was looking for a decent job to pay the rent. Now I was on a flipping mission to save one of my work colleagues from our Boss and her little 'helper'. By 'helper' I meant Joe.

"Jess, just tell me where we're going!" Exclaimed me mystery for the fifteenth time.

"Why should I tell you anything?" I asked "you won't even tell me your name!" I gave him a smug look. Okay, perhaps I was being a little harsh to him since he had just saved my life but I was curious. The least the dude could do was tell me his name.

"Look Jess, we need to find somewhere safe for you to go. I'll sort this mess out...."

Even though I wanted to hide myself away from the truth I knew I was going to do the right thing.

"No, I'm helping!" I clarified.he stood and continued watching as we drove down a deserted road and entered an unknown building that was torn and broken.

"What are we doing here?" He asked, slightly curious and slightly confused "we're supposed to be looking for Melanie, not going on a scavenger hunt for the most isolated buildings in town!"

I rolled my eyes, turning off the engine and opening the car door. "She could be here, this is the only other place in town that is remotely similar to the ruined place Joe kept me. Sharon had to be hiding her here. She has to!"

Considering the rest of the city was overflown with skyscrapers, towers and endless buildings spotting a deserted property wasn't the easiest thing to do. I knew of only two places that looked like this. Joes little hideout and here.

"How on earth do you even know about this place?" He asked, moving his locks of dark hair from his eyes and looking at me intently with his bright green emeralds.

"Look, are you going to ask questions all night or are we actually going to sort this out!" It was a statement rather than a question.

He gave me a serious look.

I sighed.

"Okay, I saw this place whilst I was walking to the offices on my first day. It was the only place that stood out because it was so old, lonely and abandoned."

I faced the building. It's rusted iron water pipes flowing from roof to roof, the brick walls rotten and mouldy, moss growing up them and the ceiling looking like it belonged to a factory owner in the industrial revolution. It sure was a place. A place I didn't want to enter.

"Come on then Jess, lets get this over with!" Mr mysterious said slightly negatively. He clenched his fists and I followed him towards the metal door. Bolts were down the side of this door, browny-yellow with rust. I shuddered and watched as Mr mysterious took a bobby pin and unlocked the door. I looked at him, completely perplexed.

He gestured for me to enter. The phrase 'ladies first' went through my mind.

Realising he may have made a risky mistake letting me in first he swooped in front of me. The cold air from outside was showing us the icy exterior of the future. I shuddered once again and walked into the pitch black room.

The only thing that surrounded the four walls was silence.

Complete and utter silence.

I gasped as the door slammed shut behind us and grabbed onto my hero's shoulder, needing reassurance. He took my hand in his and tightened it around mine, letting me know everything was going to be okay.

The only thing I could hear were my breaths and his. Reuniting in the darkness.

Then a roaring laughter filled the room. It was a female voice. Bitter and bruising. I just stood in he darkness feeling like a complete fool.

The lights suddenly flickered on, flashing on and off for a moment but then staying on. My vision was compromised just for a moment by the blinding, bright, beaming light but then my vision returned back to normal and I could see again.

The first thing I saw was her. Strapped into a swivel chair was Melanie, rope tightening around her body, duct tape covering her mouth.

I felt my breathing speed up. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I saw her eyes widen with worry and shock. She saw me and a tear fell from her eye.

I must have looked the picture of guilt. That was when I saw her. Sharon. Sitting behind Melanie in the small room with her legs perched on the old desk in front of her. She was giggling, laughing. I looked at my hero but he kept his eyes focused on them. The two that were here before us.

Sharon stood shaking her head. Her dimples showing from where she was smiling so much. She looked relieved, as if we'd somehow managed to fall into her trap.

"I didn't think you'd actually come" Sharon exclaimed "but now that your both trapped here with me we might as well do something beneficial."

She laughed again spitefully as she began to walk over to us. That was when his hand slipped from mine, I felt something sharp hit my head and everything went black.

Oh no.
