The next day I drove to school, I got there early. Cas wasn't there yet, I was a little disappointed, I wanted to see him. Oh well, I decided to just meet with my football friends who were clustered over by the lockers in the hallway.

"Hey, guys."

"Hey, Dean-o!"

I rolled my eyes. These guys were so dumb sometimes, but they were my friends, and they were cool.

"Dean-o... Ghee... you guys gotta come up with a better name for me"

They laughed their stupid laughs "huhuhuhuhuhuh" All of a sudden I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I glanced to where it came from, it was Cas. I wanted to smile, but my friends didn't seem to be as welcoming...

"Dean-" he began, I was listening intently. Then Kevin butt in.

"Pfftt. You actually know this dweeb?"

"I-"" Cas was trying to begin again, I felt bad.

"Shuddup, dork."

All of my friends laughed, I laughed along with them... I wish I hadn't. When I did, I saw a little light go out in Cas' eyes... He looked really hurt.

"No, actually, I was merely coming to thank him for yesterday."

He was thanking me... I would have done it again for him in a heartbeat. His shyness was so compelling to me. Suddenly he dropped his books. All of my friends laughed and sneered at him, I didn't, not this time.

"Stop it, guys, that's not cool."

My friends left me alone in the hallway with Cas. He was looking at me, I could tell he was grateful, as he began to pick up his books and papers. I helped him. He looked like he wanted to say something.

"What is it, Cas?"

He looked a little surprised, and pink. Heh, pink looked cute on him.

"I just came to properly thank you for yesterday. I owe it to you."

"Nah, it's no problem."

"If there's anything you need help with, I could... Oh! Do you have any classes you need help with? I can't do much, but I can help you with your schoolwork..."

"Sounds good. We can meet up afterschool at my place."

This was the perfect opportunity to get him to open up to me. I smiled to myself as I wrote my number down on a paper for him. Of course, I didn't actually need help with my homework, but it was reason enough to give Cas my number.

"See you then, I guess."

And we both went to our classes as the bell rang.
