"I’m already used to this feeling of acquiescence.”
Rain dripped down her heart-shaped face and in to her gaping mouth. Alice stood frozen to that spot on the muddy pavement. The chatter around them had ceased as people ran about in search of shelter. The pitter-patter of the salt water hitting her skin was all that filled her ears as she stared blankly at Serenity. She couldn’t even bring herself to care about the dirtied leather boots.
Serenity’s soggy cigarette fell to ground silently. He had definitely not anticipated meeting her again. Was it a coincidence? Was it planned? He could never tell what was what with her. A quiet anger began burning within him. Alice Nightray. She was just standing there, completely unharmed. After everything she had done, to his baby sister out of all people, she dared to meet him again. He’d kill her.
The one and only, Serenity Redbird, was standing there. Alice blinked, taking time to wrap her mind around this fact. Subsequently, dread eased its way in to her shivering body. Her hypnotizing eyes narrowed, the usual detachedness entering once again. Had this been planned by that girl? Alice sighed. Had she once again been caught in that girl’s schemes?
Her train of thought was broken when Serenity growled, “I thought I told you not to cross my path again, Alice.”
Alice took an involuntary step backwards at his tone. It was laced in barely suppressed fury. It was too much to expect him to have forgiven that girl .
Hey, Alice, what are you saying? It’s your fault, too. Everything was your fault. Have you forgotten? I am you, and you are me, Alice. Hey, Alice-
Shut up!
What a bad time for her to have invaded her thoughts again.
Then she was forced out of her thoughts for the second time. A throbbing pain ate at the back of her head, and her vision was spotted with stars. A tortured gasp ripped from her throat. It had happened in a flash, unexpectedly as always. Serenity had shoved her up against a nearby brick wall rather painfully, the hard texture scraping the soft skin of her back through the double layers of her muddied coat and drenched shirt. Her teeth broke through the plump flesh of her bottom lip as her head smashed in to the wall.
“Don’t you dare fucking ignore me, Alice Nightray! Why are you here? Tell me! Are you looking for trouble? Do you want to be killed?” Serenity ranted, his glowing eyes glaring sizzling holes.
Alice winced when his grip on her collar tightened, dragging her raw head up the wall a little bit more.
She murmured, “Well, maybe...”
“Die!” He roared.
