My mind spent hours upon hours thinking over what could only be the most Elysian beauty showcasing down on Earth for the whole universe to see. I wondered how things worked on the planet beneath our feet.
My nights were spent fantasizing about endless oceans, opulent tuffs of grass between my toes, studying the types of bugs that would crawl through rotting wood...
I was curious, I was confused. Until I realized; the world is so much bigger than your brain, why live it inside your head?
So I drew it.
My hands worked in harmony to create-arguably-the ugliest, distorted, and demented illustrations known to man. Cause the world doesn't make any sense, so why should I paint pictures that do.
That, and-um...art wasn't my best subject for a reason.
But every time I finished a masterpiece-no matter how ugsome it looked-my father pinned it somewhere in the living room. It filled the walls. There was a time my mother and Nova did their best to ignore their existence yet he'd always be at my side to say, 'Everywhere we look, the complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes.'
Those drawings did the ecosystem before me no justice.
"Hey, you alright there?"
My teeth gnawed my bottom lip as my feet stayed frozen at the edge of the fallen ramp. Everyone buzzed off the ship, pumped by the exhilaration coursing through their system, and yet I didn't.
"If you're worried that the ground is gonna swallow you whole, don't be. I promise, there's nothing to be scared of. "
I bent down to unlace both of my boots from their knotted mess before pulling them off and gave the boy with the awesome advice skills a fleeting glance.
He was tall, which isn't a surprise to me at this point, with black hair sleeked with gel, sunskissed skin dotted with freckles, and a dimpled chin.
I snorted, "Trust me, I'm not scared."
My breath hitched in my throat while I took a leap of faith to the ground and was welcomed by the wonderful sensation of sod between my toes. The joyous laughter was inevitable.
Is this how she felt when I sent her down?
From the far right a figure yelled out to me. "Blaze!"
Suddenly I was thrown into a tackle which ended with me being tossed as we tumbled to a stop beside a bed of flowers basking in the sun's light. My vision swam for a moment along with my discombobulated thoughts. Whatever the people hovering above me said, didn't register in my brain whatsoever.
