On the 21st of November 2012, the Information Affairs Authority, Manama, submitted an updated report detailing the status of the implementation of the recommendations of Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI).
The full report, as well as an Executive Summary and seven factsheets detailing specific sections of the report were made available.
The factsheets provided details about the following issues: rebuilding demolished religious structures; police and other injuries; civil settlements; the Ministry of Interior's Ombudsman; reinstatement of employees; accountability; and a summary of reforms.
On the 8th of December 2012, the Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa reaffirmed Bahrain's firm commitment to reforms. He pointed out the process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa since the turn of the new century to promote pluralism and equality, stressing the need to respect internal affairs.
"Bahrain has succeeded in solving its internal affairs, establishing itself as a beacon of reforms in the region over the last decades", he said. The minister was speaking as he addressed the second day of the 8th Manama Dialogue Forum, held under the theme: "Regional Security Priorities". He stressed Bahrain's ability to settle its own problems, rejecting any foreign interference which may cause polarization and push citizens to adopt extremist stances. He also reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to the reform process – in words and deeds –pointing out that Bahrain has ushered in a new phase in the reform process.
Reforms take time, and with the constant barrage of non-peaceful protests that have continued to wreak havoc in Bahrain, it will only take longer. The bias monopolized media coverage in the Arab world has harmed the actual events and has allowed radicals the freedom to participate in such acts labeling the acts as just civil disobedience.
Looking at the events that occurred in Libya and the mass NATO strikes, while they targeted thousands of soldiers, they also attacked and killed thousands of women and children. The media will never speak of this and neither will the governments that backed NATO.
While the media criminalized Gadhafi by any means possible, the real truths behind the scenes were never really shown to the outside world. I understand who the media belongs to which is obvious as it is with the social media sites and the individuals that will now laugh at what is written.
But this holds no concern to me as they are a part of this which stretched beyond Libya, one by one and all the way across the Arab world as if pieces on a chess board, all being knocked off, with of course Arab silence.
