I turn around out of curiosity, and to my alarm he's staring at Molly. As usual, she's trying to get Chris's attention by flicking her dip dyed hair and showing off her perfect makeup. I sigh, and click my fingers on front of Chris's face. He comes back to what I'm saying. "Chris can you hold the iPad for a sec?" I repeat. He nods and takes the iPad while I make my best efforts at applying some lipstick and mascara while the teachers back is turned. Chris seems to be focused on me now which is pleasing. "Why all the new...look?" He asks carefully, not wanting to start an argument. I stutter, because the reason I did was to get his attention. "Oh, I felt like I needed a change," I smile, putting my makeup away and taking back the iPad. "Oh," he says, "I prefer you with no makeup like you where back in year 7." I look at him in disbelief. He never noticed me last year. Or had he?
