Tara's POV

It's been two days since meeting at Grace's and things are pretty chill. I've been working on a school project that was time consuming but it feels so good to be done now. To celebrate, since David had the same project, he's taking me out on a date.
I only know that we have to check on the apple trees today, so we're going to stop by there. I don't know where else we're going, though.
I check my reflection in the mirror just to make sure my hair's not a super mess.
I'm wearing my black jeans but I've decided on a grey top with sequins on the collar. I pull on my black hoodie and head out the door.
David offered to give me a drive but I told him I needed to clear my mind. So I'm driving my bike.
I'm glad David understands. He wanted to bike with me but had something to get done before our date so he said he'd meet me there.
It's been crazy with Team Grace but we might actually be getting somewhere.
I ride my bike in silence, observing everything around me. It's peaceful.
By the time I get to the apple trees, the sun is setting but there's a warm, light breeze. Of course it will get chillier later, though. I had grabbed my jacket in case.
I hop off of my bike. David's standing, waiting for me at the nearest tree.

"I wanted to be here when you arrived."
David smiles.

He's wearing a black jacket that I like.

"You must be picking up some of my style. I like your jacket." I laugh.

"Speaking of fashion... You're lucky you were biking while it was light out. You're dressed in black. How are drivers going to see you? I wouldn't have let you bike if I had thought it over more." David throws his hands up like I'm really frustrating him.

He hugs me and kisses my head.

"It's all good. You think too much already. But I'll think about it more next time, too." I breathe in his scent.

David smells like... well, David. It's hard to describe but it's definitely a mix of some kind of soap and books. I know-books, a weird scent. But I like it.

"How are the trees?" I ask.

"I don't know. Let's take a look."

"They seem better than when I last saw them."

"That's good, David pauses to look at the soil around the trees, I'm not sure that they're healed completely so we'll just have to wait a little longer."

"Okay."

"So, another reason why we're here... It's for our date. I wrote a song and you might not understand it but it's for you. I thought I'd sing it now, in the Grove."

---
After a beautiful song, going to get frozen yogurt and talking for a good hour, I'm back home.
I can't stop thinking about the song. It held so much meaning but even more when David sang it. He was singing something personal and sharing it with me. I can't say I didn't tear up.... a little bit. Just a bit. Gosh. I love him so much.

A/N: Hope you enjoyed this filler chapter. Because Tara & David are OTP : ) ~M
