Part 20- The Connections

"What do you mean she wasn't on the plane!" Chase heard his voice vibrating throughout the bedroom.

"Madeline never got on the plane. When we checked the manifest she was on it. Evidently a woman that looked like her got on in her place," Allen said sounding disgusted. "We had a whole team ready to take her in custody and when the plane landed we escorted everyone off and there was no sign of Madeline. I'm sorry, Chase."

Chase rubbed his hands through his tousled hair. He was working on two hours of restless sleep. With Sasha in harms way, it was no way he could rest. He knew his team was exhausted. they had been working non-stop as they left New Orleans.

"Allen, I think Sasha might be headed to Bahia. I want you to find out if Emilio has a house there. Charlie and I are on our way to Bahia in the next three to four hours. I want Tim to find out what time any ships will be docking in Bahia. I have a feeling Madeline might be there. Emilio got away from us, so he maybe headed there too."

"We found a key that Zane had in his hotel room. We are not sure what it unlocks. We think they may have kidnapped Sasha because she knows what Zane was doing and they can't afford for their scam to be revealed. We think they are either going to kill her or drug her up and sell her to the highest bidder from what the evidence is pointing to but I think they prefer to use her. Maybe they will be able to make her a deal and offer her to work for them. There are just too many variables to come to a conclusion." Chase sighed.

"The name Alejandro Santos keeps coming up. I want everything you know on him. His name was mentioned by Mira and in some paperwork I found. Charlie and I will meet you in Bahia. See you soon."

There was a knock on the door. Chase walked over and looked through the peephole. It was Charlie and he let him in.

"I spoke to Law," Charlie said walking in the room. "He had no idea his sister was working for the other side. He told me she wasn't on the plane in Bermuda. Sorry, man. But he did say she has friends name Gabanna and Zane in Rio de Janerio so she may have gone there plus it's only a few hours away from Bahia. He said they all went to boarding school together."

"Wait did you say Zane?"

"Oh, god do you think it is the same Zane from Sasha's law firm?"

Chase picked up his phone and called Allen. "I want to know if Zane was married or dating a girl named Gabanna?" Allen took the information down and said he would call him back.

Charlie sat in the wingback chair and asked, "do you think Madeline is hiding in Rio?"

"My question is why did Madeline kidnap Sasha?" Chase said sitting on the sofa drinking a a bottle water and eating some chips. he hadn't eaten in hours. He had been running on pure adrenaline.

"Do you think it could have been a set up?"

"What do you mean, Charlie."

"You loved Madeline didn't you, Chase?"

"Yeah, but that was a long time ago!."

"I'm thinking of two reasons she may have kidnapped Sasha."

"I'm listening."

"Maybe she is still in love with you and wanted to get rid of Sasha to get back with you. You know she loved money, gold digging bitch. Or maybe someone found out she was going rogue and she thought if Sasha was kidnapped she could play the good guy and find her to get us off her trail just a thought.."

"I don't know, Charlie." Chase's phone rung and it was Allen.

"You were right. Zane Carlton was married to a Gabanna Hernandez, Emilio's cousin. Shit! They were married four years ago when he was assigned to assist Vega in a land transaction in Rio. They must have already known each other before he was assigned to Vega through the firm. He actually brought Vega and Emilio in as clients around the same time he married Gabanna  to make the transactions look legit. Something must have scared Zane recently so he and Gabanna were suppose to be on vacation. She filed a missing person's report a few days ago. She was the one to identify the body and now she is gone."
