Ally sat cross legged on the end of her double bed with her small hands in her lap as she watched her mother, Pam, ruffle through the dresses in her wardrobe. Ally was growing anxious as the minutes crept closer to seven o'clock, and she had left choosing an outfit to the last minute.
"Mum, I'm not going anywhere that's going to be remotely warm enough to wear those. Stop messing up my good dresses. You'll crinkle them"
Pam was grabbing out all sorts of dresses from Ally's wardrobe and throwing them on her bed, hoping that Ally might like some of the choices for her date that night with Harry.
"Mum!" she yelled, waving her arms to get her mothers attention.
Pam stopped searching through Ally's wardrobe and rested her hands on her hips, giving her daughter a questioning look.
"Harry texted me before and said not to dress formally" she spoke in a calmer tone "So I think I'm gonna settle for a pair of jeans and a coat"
Pam moved the dresses that were sprawled out on Ally's bed to the side to make room for herself before sitting down. Her shoulder length brown hair curled under slightly, and her dark brown eyes had nothing to show but love for her now happy daughter.
"How do you feel about it all, darl?" she asked softly, earning a confused look from Ally.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, how do you feel about Harry making an appearance again? Especially after six months of not seeing or talking to each other. It's a big step"
Pam watched as her daughter's eyes darted around the room, trying to find an explanation for the whirlwind of emotions she was feeling.
"I honestly don't know how to feel mum" Ally said as she fidgeted with her hands "It still doesn't feel real to me. He just strolled in the shop and there he was. I wanted to spew there and then to be really honest with you, mum"
Pam chuckled slightly as she gazed at her confused daughter. Ally lunged herself off the bed and pulled out a pair of dark blue skinny jeans from her white antique dresser at the end of the bed. She placed them over the white brass frame of the bed, and got out a black sweater and a brown trench coat from her cupboard. She tossed them next to her mum and rubbed her forehead, trying to relax herself a little bit.
"I mean" Ally said "I still like him, mum. It's pretty bloody obvious. Otherwise I wouldn't have agreed to this"
Although that was remotely true to some extent, she wasn't actually sure if she could ever say no to Harry, no matter what her feelings for him were. He was a huge part of her life, and that was something she didn't want to let go of.
"Do you love him?" Pam suddenly asked, causing Ally to hesitate with her answer.
"No" she said "I don't think so. But there is still feelings there. I mean, of course I still have some sort of feelings for him, mum. He was my happiest and longest relationship"
Pam threw her hands up in defense "I know, darl, I know. I was just asking"
Ally's eyes suddenly flew open wider as she heard a solid knock on her front door. Pam grinned like a small child as she lept off the bed and padded down the hallway to answer. Ally began to panic as she stood there in her room, trying to put her scattered thoughts together. She quickly took off her fluffy pink pyjama pants and slipped on her jeans. She already had a white long sleeved shirt on, so she grabbed her black sweater and threw that over her head. She stepped behind the door to retrieve a long knitted black scarf and put that around her neck before pulling her trench coat over everything. She grabbed her black knee high boots from her wardrobe and put them on. She stood in front of her mirror and briefly fixed her hair that hung in flowy waves down her shoulders.
