Chapter 4

Gabe's P.O.V

I had only been waiting for him for at least twenty minutes. I should have known something was going on because I normally waited for him for at least ten minutes. I saw him coming with his deer, but there was something else wrong with him. First of all he didn't even change back to his human form and before I couldn't even make change back he was already running back to where he came from. I followed and that was when I realized that he was taking me to the vampire territory.

I have never really been welcomed by the vampires ever since they found out I was living with werewolves and didn't have the urge to want to kill them. They called me a monster because of it and to be honest I don't really care. The only thing I don't really like is having to come face to face with one of them. Cole has made me do that before mostly because he would carelessly walk into vampire territory like he how he was doing it now. He came to a stop and I made him change back to explain to me what was going on. "I-I found...." He stuttered and I knew that what he was about to say wasn't going to be good. "I found a girl." And with that I felt myself start getting mad. Why would he drag me to the one place he knew I would prefer to avoid for a girl? Seriously, what was going on in his head? "Gabe calm down and let me show you what I mean." I gave him another look and noticed his puppy dog eyes showing, again. I knew then that he was already upset with what he did and that he knew that showing me any of this would get me mad at him, so knew I had to calm down. "Fine, but if it is not a reasonable excuse I might actually kill you." I said not knowing if it was true or just a bluff.

He started walking a little bit more before I saw a girl on the ground and by the smell I already knew she was dying. "I think she's dying." Was all Cole had to say to confirm my suspicion. Once we got closer to her the smell of pine, snow, and fire filled my nostrils. It was an interesting mix of scent, but for some reason it felt comfortable to me. I took another sniff and her scent filled my nostrils, but something else was mixed with her scent. It was a rotten smell that just proved more that she was dying. She wasn't dead yet because the rotten death smell wasn't so strong yet. "She looks familiar, right?" I took a closer look at her face and something about her was familiar, but not enough to agree with him. I shook my head no, but something in me was telling me that it was a lie and that I did know this girl, who was probably around my age. "I think we should just leave her." I said getting up, but something was saying that I had to take her with me and find out if she is going to be fine. "What?! we can't leave her here. Gabe please, we have to save her." Cole sounded kind of different. "Cole, are you okay?" He sounded like I just suggested on leaving his mate to die. With that thought I knew what was going on. I got closer to him and noticed he was staring at the girl. This girl can't be his mate was all that came to my mind. I tried getting his attention again, "Cole, seriously bro. Are you okay?" I still didn't get any response. All he was doing was staring at her and I had to keep his senses up. "Don't you have that instinct thing or did it just go away? Because she more likely still has her instinct and if she wakes up and you instinct kicks in both of you will be trying to tear each other's necks apart." I actually turned him around, but he was still looking at her. "I saw her and she was in so much pain and something in me was telling me that I had to save her." And with that I knew that I could do nothing to change his mind.

That was how I ended back in our cave and thinking about the fact that the girl that Cole found is not his mate. First of all he was a werewolf and she was a vampire. The only thing they can feel for each other is anger, hate and have the urge to kill each other. "Cole, what kind of problems did you put us in?" I said out loud talking to myself. With that in mind I picked up the 2 deers and with my vampire speed I ran to the house.

I found Cole in his room after leaving the deers in our small basement. She was laying on his bed and he was pacing back and forth at the end of his bed. "So what do we do now because mom isn't even here." I said as I got closer to the bed. "Gabe, I honestly don't know. I don't know why I wanted to save her. I don't know why it is really important for me to know that she is going to wake up later. I don't even know her, but all I know is that I although I do have a little urge to attack her it had dimmed down and covered by something more stronger than that, but I just don't know what that is." He said sounding s frustrated and mad with himself. "Well something is going on and we both don't know what, but we will get through it together." I said not mentioning the hunch that was developing in my mind. "Gabe this is seriously getting to me. I don't know what is going on and that is just annoying to try to figure out." I noticed that Cole was getting mad and that is never the best thing to happen. He is always out of control when he is mad and right now his wolf was ready to take over. "Cole, calm down. We will get through this and I will help you with whatever is going on." I said trying to calm him down.
