8. Beta

Dorin smiled to himself while feeling proud that Dacia had finally achieved what she wanted. Then he looked down and saw a fang still hanging from Dacia's deltoid. He took the fang  off and frowned. Then he looked at Dacia with round eyes, quickly took her between his arms and ran off.

-"Will she be okay?!"- asked Dorin desperately as he stood behind Dan Lupu inside Dacia's room along with the clan's doctor.

-"I can't tell you for sure if she will transform into a vampire or not right now. It's best to keep her under surveillance"- said the doctor as he looked at Dorin over his shoulder. "You said she transformed into a wolf seconds  after she was bitten by the vampire?"

Dorin nodded as the doctor sighed. He slowly stood up after checking Dacia's pulse. Walking towards Dan, he whispered something to his ear and then walked away. Dan walked towards his daughter and fell to his knees as he took his unconscious little girl's hand between his.

-"My girl...she...she transformed"- said Dan half worried and half proud of his breed.

-"I'm sorry, alpha....I didn't mean to--"- Dorin tried to explain, but Dan simply shook his head.

-"She ran there on her own as always. I saw you two from afar"- said Dan. "She's just too wild. It was good that you ran off with her, otherwise I don't know what else could have happened to this reckless girl".

Dorin simply averted his gaze and remained quiet. Dan sighed and looked at him over his shoulder.

-"What color was her fur?"- asked Dan who felt a bit sad since he missed his daughter's transformation.

-"She had fur as white as snow"- stated Dorin as if reporting formally.

Obviously, being Dacia's guardian was his job so, he did need to report the situation in full detail to his leader. Dorin didn't want to say everything because he knew that if he did he'd probably get scolded for it and even get separated from Dacia.

Dan nodded pleased with the information about Dacia's fur and then continued questioning  Dorin.

-"What about the vampire? Did you kill it?"-he asked.

-"There were two. The one that bit Dacia and another one that came out of nowhere. She practically destroyed the one that bit her"- replied Dorin.

-"Were her instincts that strong?"-

-"She even got their scent before I did, sir. Well...the scent of blood actually"-

Dan laughed as he was amazed by his daughter's accomplishments. He was smiling from ear to ear while gently patting his daughter's hand.

-"This wild brat is full of surprises, isn't she?"-

-"Indeed sir"- answered Dorin.

-"Isn't she a wonderful girl?"-

-"Of course, sir"-

-"So much that you'd even imprint on her"-

-"I already did sir"-

Suddenly, Dorin covered his mouth as Dan looked at him with a michivious smile. He slowly stood up and walked towards the boy who's face had went completely crimson. Dan laughed and placed a hand on the boy's shoulder.

-"It seemed funny now that you would stick to her so much, not just as part of your duty. When did that happen?"- asked Dan.
