When you fall in love with a writer

you never really die

because you become immortal in their words.

Maybe you are not the hero of their favorite story

but, if you look carefully,

you'll find yourself in the characters they love most.

They will put in the way see your eyes

or the little quirks only seen by those who want to look.

But you did not fall in love with me,

I fell for you.

I immortalized you in paper and ink

like no other before.

You consumed my characters

and I fell in love with them

and found joy in their joy

and pain in their sorrows.

But that means coming back to old stories is the worst.

I cannot read my memories without thinking of you.

I cannot love my characters

knowing you didn't fall for me

but now you're immortal.

On paper

and

in my heart.
