Cas had been moping around the bunker all day since the brothers and him got back from a demon hunt. The hunt wasn't to far from the bunker but there were more demons than expected and Cas got a bit beat up. Dean of course blamed himself and patched Cas up. He didn't know what Cas had been told, not yet that is.

(Earlier)
Cas was bound by rusty shackles that dangled from the ceiling just barely allowing him to stand. He was frantic, as the brothers weren't here yet.
"If this is an angel then why don't we have heaven already?" Castiel wanted to sass but a blade was raked against his right thigh. As he screamed his abuser laughed. "Looking for those hunters? Your boyfriend? You know he'll never love you in this meat suit," He paused, "In fact I would be willing to propose a deal. Mara sweetie come here." A petite girl with dark hair and blue eyes seemed to float around the corner.
"Yessir."
"Castiel if you tell the Winchesters to leave us I will offer you this vessel. That way maybe he'll love you."
Despite how absolutely idiotic this was, Castiel was going to say yes.
That is until Dean Winchester came through the door with blood soaking his clothes.
"Leave him alone." He growled, it was quite obvious he hadn't seen Castiel's state. The Demon moved to reveal him a bit and chuckled;
"I'm afraid it's too late for that princess."
"You son of a bitch"
Dean lunged at him and almost immediately killed him. He undid Castiel's wrists and attempted to exorcise the girl. Which ended up working.
When they left the vessel gave Dean a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
The demon was right.
Castiel remained silent the entire ride home.

(Now)
Dean walked into the library wear Castiel's head was buried in lore. He shook his head and rolled his eyes at the sight.
"Alrighty Cas, you gonna tell me what's going on?" Cas looked up from the book confused. "You've been sulky all day." Dean came closer to the Angel. Cas looked down again.
"I was thinking maybe I should get a different vessel." Dean sat down in front of him with his elbows on his knees.
"Cas, you can't be serious, Jimmy died for you," He became worried, "Is this about your stolen grace? Is it hurting you?"
"No."
"Then what's wrong?" He said in a hushed voice.
"You like women. And as long as I am in this damn vessel you'll never love me. You can't love me if I'm not a woman. Never mind it's stupid." Dean came even closer most definitely invading the personal space rule.
"Hey look at me." He hooked a finger under Castiel's chin to force him to look at him. "Do you love me?" Cas looked at him admiringly.
"I'd do anything for you. Yes, I love you Dean."
"Well that's a good thing cause I love you too. For whatever you are." Dean pulls Castiel to him with a passionate kiss. "Besides I am a bottom." He jokes against the Angel's lips earning a small smile.
"Shall we test that theory?" Cas asked.
"Now you're talking." Dean growled.
