Chapter 3

"B- bu- but, I'm not Clare. Please, you're making a mistake. I don't even know who Clare is." I stuttered. The gang members were closing in on me, and my mind was racing for escape routes that just weren't there. i clutched my purse, knowing that it would do nothing to help me. 'There are five of them, I can't fight them off,' I thought, panic constricting my throat.

I started to hyperventilate as the first man spoke, "Sure you're not. You look just like her, even when you aren't covered in Eddie's blood." His black eyes shot daggers at me, making my stomach knot up like an old ball of yarn.

"I don't know what you guys are talking about. Who's Eddie? What blood?" Panic turned to desperation, making my voice sound guilty, even to me.

"Ha!" The girl spat in utter disgust, "As if you don't know. Eddie is my little brother, the innocent twelve year old you and you're 'Skull Bangers' killed. That's sick, even for a low life, street gang."

"What, you guys don't understand, my name is Felicity Knight, I go to Teddy Robson High School, and I've never even heard of the 'Skull Bangers'." I looked from one guy to the next, tryng to register some sort of sympathetic look from one of them. "Please, you have to believe me."

"We don't have to believe anything, and we don't care who you claim to be, I want revenge for my little brother being Murdered." She emphasized on the last word, making it perfectly understandable. She was totally, one-hundred percent serious. They weren't leaving until they saw blood.

"Wait, we can talk about this. We can work some thing..."

Thud. The first punch came as a total shock, catching me in the stomach and totally knocking the wind out of me. I turned to see my attacker but caught a knee in the small of my back, making me yelp in pain. I fell to my knees, without even getting the chance to defend myself. Quickly returning to my feet, I saw a leg coming from my left. I caught it, threw it back, and watched the only girl fall to the ground. Then, out of nowhere, I felt something solid hit me from behind and I fell to the ground.

Though my vision was blurred, I could see the oldest of the men holding a now broken guitar that he'd pulled from a trash bin. My head was pounding, as the first of many tears fell from my eyes.

"Please I-" another foot came flying toward me, hitting me smack in the face, ending my sentence immediately. I heard a crunch, and blood began pouring from my broken nose. I was flipped onto my back surprisingly gently by another foot and then stepped on, any gentleness forgotten. I no longer had any idea who was doing what, my vision completely blurred from pain, tears and blood. A whole lot of blood.

All attempts to return the kicks or punches were forgotten, and as the next foot thundered toward my stomach, I curled into a fetal position with a whimper of pain, protecting what was left of my face.

The next few minutes went by in a series of screams, punches, and blinding streaks of agony. After a little while I felt a tugging on my shoulder, and my purse was jarred from my grasp. I heard papers ruffling and zippers being done up and undone over the sounds of fists and feet ruthlessly hitting my bloody figure.

After what seemed like forever I heard a girl's nervous voice. "Uh, guys we have a problem." The beating stopped momentarily and I heard feet shuffling toward the source of the noise.

  "Oh my god."

"What are we going to do?"

  "She- Seriously, they look identical."

Several of the guys said, with expressions of disbelief. I rolled over, a shrieking pain running down my spine. I opened my eyes, and blinked, attempting to clear my vision. There they were, all five of them, staring at my school I.D.

"Believe me now?" II said, before being consumed by the darkness.
