Song of the chapter (and possibly story): Boyfriend Number 2
The first thing I noticed about the house was that it was incredibly huge---and empty. This was a problem because big, empty houses always seemed to get me frightened. It was probably because of the endless horror movies I watched. I haul my last box into the house and wipe my forehead. I only brought five boxes since I didn't really have room to fit anything at my old apartment.
"I believe we're finished," Cam says coming into the large bare living and wiping his hands on his jeans.
"That's it?!" I squeal in excitement. This entire morning was spent moving big boxes in with clothes, electronics and basic handheld materials. "No more boxes?" I wanted to confirm this.
"Not that I know of. The moving men left a few minutes ago. So I was thinking we could start with unpacking these--"
"Unpacking?! Cam, I just got here! I need to explore the house!" I protested.
"Well, go ahead Christopher Columbus. I wish you luck."
"Thank you," I smile.
I give Cam a brief kiss on the cheek and run upstairs enthusiastically. Unfortunately, I never actually saw the inside of the house expect for pictures Cam provided me. The first thing I needed to see was my bedroom. It sounds stupid but I'm actually nervous about sleeping in the same bed with Cam every night. I mean, sure we've slept together on occasions but every night.
What if I talk in my sleep? What I pass some embarrassing gas so powerful Cam falls off the bed or something? My thoughts stops and my breath is caught when I open the door to the master bedroom. The room is like twice the size of my last living room and pressed against the wall is the gigantic King-sized bed.
Just I walk forward my phone begins buzzing in my jean pocket. I reach inside my back pocket and tap the screen to read the message.
So we're still up for our date tonight, right? -Keith
I almost forgot I had plans with Keith tonight. It was frustrating because today I was supposed to relax in my new home and put my feet up but today was also the only day of the week Keith was available. His daughter Diana was visiting for the week and she was leaving today, which meant I could received.
Keith had originally wanted me to meet Diana but I told him that I was sure my archenemy didn't want me anywhere near her offspring. I don't know if she put high school behind her but to be honest, I really don't care. It's hard for me to ever give up a grudge so I still haven't forgiven her yet. Finally, I remember I haven't replied to the message and begin typing
Sure :) -Alex
"So, what do you think?" Cam says coming from behind me. I suppress all urges to jump and turn around frantically and calmly put my phone away. I've been lying for a long time and I know for a fact jumping and acting too happy and smiley is bound to get you found out. You have to ease them away unsuspectingly.
