"Alexandra! Wake up," I hear a stern voice bark at me. I get up with a start and knock all my papers off my desk and onto my floor. I look up, and see it was Amy. Deliberately, I took my time to compose myself. I wipe my eyes, check the sides of my mouth for drool and then took out my portable mirror to check my face. Seeing that my makeup was orderly, I took quite a while stretching then presenting a huge grin to her.
"Oh, hi Amy! I didn't see you there." I say, folding my hands under my chin.
"I'm sure you didn't," she scoffs, glaring down at me. "This," she points to the man next to her, "Is Timothy Lark. Josh asked that I give him a tour but I'm far too busy, so you'll just have to do it." I look to her side and I'm surprised I hadn't noticed him before, he almost took up the entire room. I immediately turn away from him to glare at Amy,
"Why don't you tell Josh you simply can't do it?"
"Alex, please." The look on Amy's face said it all. She wanted to show Josh she could do it and impress him. Running back to him in failure wouldn't work with her. I never really quite thought of Amy as liking anyone in a romantic--actually in any way. I always thought of her as a future cat lady with a future of being forever alone.
"We will have to talk about this later, my darling Amy. Hi Timothy, I'm Alexandra but call me Alex. Everyone does," I said extending my arm out to the man in front of me as Amy walks out with a troubled expression covering her face. I had to admit it was amusing to see Amy to see out of her element for once. I finally look up at the guy's face (he was without a doubt over six feet) and find his bright gray eyes looking into mine. His hair is unnaturally tidy and everything about him just screams perfection.
"So where do we start in our tour?" he asks, a smile forming over his angel-sculpted face.
"God, I never gave a tour before. I have no idea."
"What about the bathroom? If I'm going to spend half my life in this place, I guess I should know where one is."
"Right! Follow me." I say, a sense of leadership flows through me and I march forward. Where was the men's room? I never paid it any mind whatsoever--obviously I didn't need it. Well I did know where one was because Cam and I--anyway, I'll just show him that one. Behind me I hear a faint sound of a ring tone and turn back and see Tim giving me an apologetic smile.
"Hi babe," he says into the phone. So Mr. Tall and Handsome had a girlfriend. "Yeah, I'm actually getting the tour of the place now. Yeah. Uh huh. Are you going to be home today? Right. I understand. No, it's okay, I'm used to it by now. Bye."
"Relationship problems?" I shouldn't be butting into his life but I felt like he needed someone to talk too.
"It's hardly a relationship if the other doesn't even try to contribute to it, is it?"
I felt relieved that we reached the bathroom because frankly, I was the last person to give relationship advice. "This is honestly the only bathroom I know. You'll find the other ones alone. I can show you where the cafeteria is. I hope you're hungry, the sight and smell of their food will make you drool."

"Is this legal?" I ask Cam as he lifts me up and hoists me over the locked fence that separated us from the deserted beach. I felt sorry for anyone that didn't get the opportunity to view the beach late at night. It was truly a beautiful sight. The water was black and calm, without even the slightest of ripples to ruin it. The bright yellow sand looked as if it turned white.
"I don't really know. I don't care either." he says, lifting his shirt over his head and throwing it on the sand. This gave me a great opportunity to ogle his photo-shopped looking washboard abs.
"Why, that isn't a very good example of responsibility from the future owner of a successful newspaper company," I teased. Cam smiled uneasily and brushed his hand through his hair. My face dropped its grin, Cam only did that hair brush action when he didn't agree with something.
"What's wrong?" I ask him, frowning.
Cam studies my face and drops his jeans and showcased his blue swim trunks before running into the water and jumping in, "The only problem here is that you're still dressed and not in the water!" Okay, so he didn't want to talk about it.
"That water's freezing. I can hear you trembling," I scold, cautiously walking up to the water, and looking at the man that was childishly playing in the water alone.
"Not once you get used to it."
Rolling my eyes, I strip off my clothes and jump in the water too, "God! This is cold! If I die of hypothermia, no one will know about where I was when I died and it'll all be your fault, Cam!"
"Then we should probably share body heat," Cam says grinning wickedly and wrapping his arms around me. I can't help but start giggling and to comply to his suggestions.
"You're probably the dumbest person I ever met."
"And yet, you're marrying me. I guess that makes you dumb too."
I lean in and ravish his mouth with mine. "Then I guess we're the best pair."
I'm digging in my purse after work two days later looking for my car keys when I see Tim standing on the sidewalk. "Hey Tim!" I yell over to him. Tim and I actually got to be pretty good friends since we only had each other to talk to during breaks. Usually, I reserved my break period for Cam but he was studying how to be a CEO still (which explains why I'm going home alone).
"Oh, hey Alex." he says as his face breaks into a smile.
"What are you waiting for?" I walk next to him.
"My ride."
"Is it your mysterious lover you're always talking about?" I tease.
"Actually, it is. And here he comes."
My head whips to face Tim then to the car that was pulling right in front of us. My breath caught. He didn't look much different. His hair definitely grew longer, it was to his shoulders now. He also gained a laid-back cool aura around him. He wore a wrinkled T-shirt and jeans and went over to give Tim a quick kiss before turning to me. Actually, he grew a lot too... he was the same height or taller than Tim. His eyebrows went up in shock.
"My, my. Haven't seen you in a while, Alex. You haven't changed a bit." he smiled and wrapped an arm around Tim.
"You guys know each other?" Tim asks in confusion.
"Why, yes we do. How have you been doing, Daniel?"
Like my beautiful unexpected event, guys? :D
