"You ready to see her?" Dally asks me. I nod my head.
"Yeah," I say as I mess with the flowers I have in my lap. We stop for 2 minutes of at a red the light with awkward silence. The light turns green and Dally drives.
Then everything goes black.
Steve's POV:
I see my wife, Lauren, in the car with Dally as they stop at the intersection. Then the light turns green and someone runs into their car on the passenger side.
"No!!" I scream. Lauren's side is bad.
I run to the car. I open Dally's door. He coughs and gets out and I push past him and grab Lauren.
"No, no baby," I cry.
Then I feel someone's hand on my shoulder as they bend down. I look up and I see Ben, Lauren's brother. I saw where he came from, a bus that says Marine Corps Bus.
"Sis! We need help! Someone get an ambulance!"
Dally gets up with a look on his face that has pain written all over it.
"I'll call 911," he says through gritted teeth.
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been 2 hours since she's been in surgery. I bite my nails in anxiety. Ben is sitting next to me tapping his foot.
"I'm going to go. I'm so sorry. I'll be back soon," Dally groans.
"K," I mumble. I close my eyes because I can feel tears coming out.
Ben puts his arm around me. "Hey, it's gonna be okay. You know Lauren, she's a tough cookie," he smiles with heavy eyes.
We just smile, thinking about Lauren.
"Mr. Randle?" The doctor calls. We both stand in an instant. Appears to have broken
"What's wrong, Doctor?" Ben asks.
"Mrs. Randle had broken three ribs and fractured her neck," the doctor says glancing at his clip board.
"Can we see her?" I ask.
"She's not awake yet. She also appears to be in a short-term comma. She should be awake in a few days. But yes, you can see her."
We walk into her room. She has tubes coming from her mouth and NG tubes coming from her nose. She also has 3 IVs in her arm. I breakdown at the sight of her.
It's been 2 days. Ben and I haven't left her side.
I'm holding her hand with my head down. I feel broken inside without her being awake. Then I feel her hand move. I look up.
"Lauren!" I exclaim.
"Steve," she says. She looks over "Ben."
"Hey sis. You're gonna be okay. We'e all going to be okay,"
And he was right. It's all gonna be okay
