Chapter 3: The Fake and Real Truth
" Liu! Tell them it was me! I attacked those kids!" Jeff said. Jeff's mother put her hand on his shoulder.
" Jeff it's okay you can stop lying, we know it was Liu." She said as they watched the cops take Liu away. After his father came home and his mother cleared the news Jeff sat in the driveway and weeped about the thought of his only brother being in JDC. He looked up and saw Emily walking with some dude down the sidewalk, he saw that they were holding hands...this displeased Jeff. Emily must of saw him and stopped her walking and went towards Jeff who was still crying on the ground.
" Jeff, what's wrong?" Asked Emily. How could he tell her? That his brother just took the blame for something that he did? He knew he was gonna have to lie...again.
" My brother...he got sent to JDC for attacking three kids at the bus stop." He said.
" How long does he have to stay there?" Emily asked.
" It wasn't his fault! They attacked him first! I was there with him," He pointed out furiously," nobody believes me though."
She stared deep into his eyes and lend towards his ear." I believe you," she whispered in his ear," and I know it's not your brothers fault." She also said.
" H-how do you know?" Asked Jeff.
" I don't know...I have a feeling." She said, patted his shoulder, and walked back towards the dude she was walking with and walked away. As she was out of his sight be became even more dull and sad; he was sad even with the fact that his brother was in JDC, but just the thought of her being with someone else...really split his mind and heart. These feelings that he's been getting have been getting stronger and stronger and yet he keeps dismissing them, he knew he couldn't keep dismissing them forever.
After an hour or so he went back in the house to see his parents in sadness, shock, and disappointment. He ran upstairs to his room and laid down in his bed. He tried to clear his mind from everything that happened today and went to sleep.

The next day Jeff walked himself to school knowing that he couldn't take the bus anymore. When he approached the front entrance he saw Emily kissing that boy she was walking with yesterday; the very sight of it made Jeff so mad that it gave him the urge to just run up to the boy and-and just...stab him in the throat. Stab him so deep in the throat that the knife went straight through and he could just lift it up and split his skull in two. He held in the urge to do so and went inside the building to try and survive this day without breaking down.
He went to his locker to grab his books and looked at the doors where he noticed that the guy didn't even hold the door open for her; he just opened it and let it close in her face! What a douche-bag! Fast as lightening Jeff ran over to the doors and opened it for her to enter. Emily looked at him and gave him a small but noticeable smile and walked through the doors.
" Thanks." She said and walked to her next class.
Jeff's cheeks sparked into a light pinkish-red and his heart started fluttering with happiness and love. He closed the door and continued to dig for his books, when suddenly that guy showed up." I didn't know you go here." He said.
" Well...duh of course I go here, how else does your girlfriend know me?" Jeff responded back with a sarcastic tone.
" I uh saw you opened the door for her..."
" Yeah and?"
" And...that's my job...not yours." He said. Jeff once again got that feeling, but this time it was stronger than the last time which was bad.
" I saw you close the door in her face! I was being a good friend and opening it for her, unlike you." Jeff said in a angry tone of voice.
" Don't get too close to her! I'm just warning you there." The guy said and walked away leaving Jeff furiously upset. He slammed his locker shut and went to his class where he asked if he could use the bathroom, the teacher granted him permission and he was on his way. Jeff couldn't keep this anger built up in him he had to let it out somehow, so he bashed his fist into the stall doors, kicked the body mirror and walls and pulled his hair." Stupid son of a bitch!" He mumbled to himself," that stupid fucking douche! Just-just...." He growled and slammed his butt on the ground and tried to relax.
After getting all that anger out he decided to go back to class and not say a word to anyone for the rest of the day, not even to Emily. After school was over he spotted Emily standing by herself on the sidewalk, all alone in her own little world. Jeff couldn't help the urge to just go over there and...talk to her...just be near her, in her sight, in her surrounding area. He walked over to her and just stood right beside her, nervous and shy. He stood there blushing uncontrollably and tried to hold back a smile." Hi Jeff." She said happily.
" H-hi Emily." Jeff responded back still blushing uncontrollably.
" How are you do-"
" Can I walk you home?!" Jeff asked quickly. Emily eyes widened and she smiled so widely.
" Uh...sure why not?" She answered. Jeff's heart was beating at an enormous rate to her response and it started beating even more fast when they started walking together. They walked for awhile and Emily noticed how red his face was." Jeff your face is a bright red!" She said and chuckled at the end. Jeff quickly covered his bright red face with his hair and binder, embarrassed from his blushing. Emily moved his binder and brushed his hair back so that his face was showing again.
" You don't have to hide." Said Emily as she tucked his long brown hair behind his ear, which only made Jeff blush even more than he already was.
" I...I-" he paused," I'm sorry for acting like this it's just-"
" You don't have to explain, trust me I've been through this a lot."
What did she mean by that? Were there other guys too? Jeff wouldn't be surprised she so beautiful who wouldn't admirer and flirt with her? The very blind that's who. Eventually, they made it to an old evergreen house with a broken fence and a cricked walkway." Well, here we are!" She said as she opened her arms up like she was giving a huge towards her house. She lives there? A beautiful woman like her lives there? She deserves so much better.
" Well...your welcome for bring you home...your boyfriend missed out on the fun."
" Yeah, but he went home sick so it's alright."
Jeff looked down at the ground and kicked a few pebbles across the sidewalk.
" So...you guys really like each other huh?" Jeff asked.
" Eh, he's alright not the perfect guy, but he's alright."
" I can be perfect..." Jeff mumbled to himself.
" Huh?" Emily asked.
" Nothing...it's nothing." Jeff answered.
" Well...see ya later." Emily said and walked inside of her house leaving Jeff standing outside alone. Jeff walked back to his house following the same path he took to get to Emily's house to his, his sentence repeated over and over in his mind." I can be perfect, I can be perfect, I can be perfect." And the thoughts were right Jeff knew he could be perfect, and he was gonna be perfect...he absolutely was. The feeling inside him burnt like a flame and he couldn't turn it off for the longest time.
