Nightmare// Stiles

It was the middle of the night when it happened. You were sleeping with your back facing Stiles, sound asleep.

When he jumped awake, screaming like someone was killing him. You jumped awake too, turning over expecting to see someone murdering your boyfriend. But instead, you found Stiles screaming between his hands. 

You pulled him into your arms, stoking his back softly. "Stiles? Stiles, are you alright?"

He was breathing heavily in your chest, tears running down his face. "What was that?"

"It was just a nightmare," he turns over, his back facing you. "It was nothing, really, go back to sleep."

Something wasn't right. You know that he sacrificed himself for his father and it was like he was the only one feeling it. You haven't really talked to Allison since the whole sacrificial thing, and both you and Stiles were being awkward because of your goodbye speech.

*Flashback*

You hugged Stiles tightly, crying softly into his shoulder. 

"Hey, I'm coming back," he pulls his chin up to look into your eyes. "I promise that I am, I'm not leaving you."

He leans down and kisses you softly, passionately. You pulled away quickly, avoid sobbing against his lips. 

"I love you Stiles." You stared into the brown eye of the boy you loved. 

He kind of froze, examining your face. He didn't say it back though. He didn't. Maybe it was because he knew he was coming back and wanted to wait for like a date or something? Maybe it was because he wanted to say it back when he knew his life was in stone? Or maybe he didn't love you back? Maybe you surprised him out of now, maybe it was the shock of saying that you loved him?

*Flashback over* 

You had to stop second guessing yourself. 

You knew that he loved you. I mean, if was evident that Stiles loved you even though he's never said the words. 

You knew that he didn't go back to sleep after that. You knew that he was too scared to go back to sleep after the nightmares. 

But you didn't do anything. You just pretended to go back to sleep. You don't know why, you really do not know why you would ignore him like that. But something in you just told you to leave him alone.

Did you really love Stiles? 

Yes, yes. Of course you did. You've been through hell and back with this kid and still managed to maintain a healthy relationship, yes you loved him.

But did he love you?
