Left Behind

Your old brick walls and musty smell

Surrounded by stores selling shirts for sixty dollars

Street art on your sides and cracks in your glass

And I'm standing in the rain looking at you

You were like home once

A place to explore and be anything I could be

Just you and me because why not

I walk around you, hands slowly trailing and feeling old graffiti

You're a shadow of yourself

Just like me

You used to hold adventures

Now all you hold is dust

I used to play piano

Now I can't even play a tune

Someday they'll tear you down

And you'll be replaced with another store selling shirts for sixty dollars

Someday the me right now will disappear too

And be replaced by something better

And I'll leave you behind

Because that's what happens when you're replaced

Everyone will forget you

And here and now as I stand in the rain

Sometimes I wish I didn't have to forget

At all.
