If I could write you a poem
Well, I'm writing you one now
I'd write you a poem better than Shakespeare
If I could write you a poem it would last forever
Because I'd write more of it every day
If I could write you a poem that meant infinity or a billion times itself
I'd just have to look into your eyes for inspiration
A lot of people ask me what happened
"You went soft" I'm told
Well that's what happens to a delinquent kid the first time
They realize someone loves them
If I could write you a poem, I would've started the day I knew you
Instead of wasting time not knowing if I wanted you in my life
If I wrote a poem as beautiful as you
The world would be yours
I'm not very good at writing poems
Most of them aren't poems
And most don't even rhyme
But for you I'll always write one and I'll always have the time
If I could write a poem it would always be about you
Because poetry focuses on passion and love
And when we met, that is the first thing I discovered
I discovered a person
Who was worth all the stars and all the pieces of paper I can write on
And I'm glad I found you
Or maybe
You found me
