Dear You,
Well you've made it this far if you're still reading this
Jesus you're a dumb shit sometimes
With your dorky glasses and your stupid hair
But hey, you've made it this far
I don't know how you did it
Maybe it was all those nights reading travel magazines
Or listening to your idiosyncratic movie soundtracks
But I guess some things keep people alive no matter what
This isn't a message telling you to stop
Hell you can keep doing whatever shit you do
This is just a letter to remind you
That if you get scared and wanna go back
There's things to do alongside those things
Go find that new adventure please
I'd love to see you get better
But better doesn't always mean happier man
Go and find that classic album amongst some shitty old thrift store junk
Go and have a wild night chasing the sun and getting high and almost dying
Kiss that guy you think you like
I don't want you to regret a second of it
You've almost died a lot in your life. Trying to fit in and please people
I know you're afraid
Hell, you fear going to bed every night and never waking up just because the doctor
Told you that would happen
So you do you
And if you ever find a way to feel beautiful without having to do all the things you do
The things everyone treads on you for
I'll be just as happy as I am now
If you ever read this again it means you've made it a little further
So I guess I hope you see this today and the next day and the day after that
And hopefully by your next birthday
You are beautiful and you always were
If you can stop you'll be all the more beautiful
If you can't I'll be by your side until the day you have to say goodbye
