Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Looking at the group of at least forty men I scowled. There was no way I was going to be followed around by all of them this was ridiculous, Derrick and Kiad obviously thought so as well because they were laughing their heads off next to me. This had better be a joke I thought annoyed but with Darrin you could never be sure...he just might be serious.
“Seriously Darrin, don’t you think this is going a little over board even for you?” Derrick asked while laughing.
Darrin grinned, “She wanted guards I gave her guards. Now if she wants to wait for me then she won’t need to bring any guards…” he trailed off looking straight at me.
I shook my head in disbelief; he was being such a baby! “Darrin you have got to be joking there is no way I am going to walk around with forty armed men following me, isn’t four enough or even better two?”
“Nope I am not joking I can make it fifty if you want or even better one hundred.” He said mimicking me.
My jaw dropped, “A hundred! That’s an army if you ever dared to do that I wouldn’t speak to you for the rest of your life.”
Darrin hesitated for a moment before responding, “Like you would be able to…anyways I have to give them some” he said gesturing to the large group of tough looking guards, “some specific instructions since they aren’t my Silverton guards.” he made a face showing his lack of faith in the big group showing his doubt that they could accomplish anything.
I looked at the group in disgust. Why did Darrin have to be so annoying? I wondered what he was telling them as I turned to Kiad and Derrick. “Can either of you talk some sense into him?” I asked exasperated.
“Nope, he’s your fiancé.” Derrick said with a slight smile empathizing the fiancée part knowing it would bug me.
I muttered under my breath. “Not by choice, any ways he is your brother… Kiad do you think you could convince him?” I asked silently pleading him with puppy dog eyes. They seemed to be working because Kiad groaned. I knew Derrick wasn’t going to help.
“Sorry, Krystal he already wants to kill me it probably isn’t the best idea for me to interfere, but I’ll try.”
“Thanks Kiad”, I smiled giving him a hug. Trying was better than what Derrick was doing and I had already tried maybe if a couple people told him how ridiculous he was being he would listen. I know wishful thinking.
Derrick cleared his throat, “Umm, Krystal you might want to move, Darrin is watching.” Remembering that I was still quite close to Kiad I snuck a glance in Darrin’s direction seeing him give a death glare directed at Kiad who was smiling as if he thought it was funny. Kiad wrapped his arms around my waist and it was all I could do to keep from slapping him.
“What are you doing Kiad are you daft? Darrin is going to kill you.” Derrick said as Darrin suddenly appeared next to Derrick.
“Thank you brother for giving the idiot a warning but I still see his arms around Krystal. Maybe he wants to lose them altogether.” Darrin said with an evil smile that caused fear to creep into me.
“Darrin don’t you dare…” I began but Kiad cut me off.
“And if you do that you lose Krystal so what does that achieve. I’ve barely known her a week now and I can tell she hates violence. I’ll let go of her if you reduce the amount of guards, Krystal is right forty is a ridiculous amount.”
Finally I realized what he was doing, but he obviously was going about it the wrong way. Darrin’s eyes grew cold, “Krystal would forgive me if I disposed of your arms. It is not like they are of much importance because you decided to knowingly sacrifice them.”
