"Send for the king. Open the gate!" A soldier ordered.

"Open up the gate!" Shouted another.

The gates were opened and ranks of Lórien Elves marched through. Théoden walked down a flight of stairs, a look of bewilderment on his bearded face.

"How is this possible?" He muttered.

Haldir approached Théoden from alongside the Elvish army.

"I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. An alliance once existed between Elves and Men. Long ago we fought and died together."

As Haldir spoke, Ruive, Aragorn and Legolas ran down the stairs. Upon seeing them, Haldir gave the smallest of smirks to Ruive who beamed back at him.

"We come to honour that allegiance." He finished.

Ruive jumped down the rest of the stairs to greet Haldir.

"Haldir, Mellonamin." (my friend) Ruive greeted, throwing her arms around him.

Haldir, who was used to actions like this from Ruive, wrapped his arms around her torso. As they pulled apart, Aragorn stepped forward.

"Mae govannen, Haldir." (Well met, Haldir.) Aragorn greeted.

What he did next though, Haldir was not expecting; the man pulled him in for a hug, unable to contain his gratitude. Haldir, though shocked at first, hugged back.

"You are most welcome." Aragorn beamed.

Legolas greeted Haldir, silently as the Elven army turned and faced the Rohirrim, bows by their sides'.

"We are proud to fight alongside Men once more." Haldir announced.

The Elves and Rohhirim were positioned along the wall of Helm's Deep as they anxiously awaited the arrival of the armies of Isengard. Gimli, Legolas, and Ruive were standing along the front wall, Gimli having trouble seeing over the stone wall.

"You could have picked a better spot." Gimli grumbled.

Aragorn walked along the wall to where the three were standing.

"Well, lad, whatever luck you live by, let's hope it lasts the night." Gimli prayed.

"Your friends are with you, Aragorn." Legolas assured

"Let's hope they last the night." Gimli muttered.

Thunder rumbled overhead and rain began to pour over the land. Aragorn walked along the wall between the Elves, shouting out orders.

"A Eruchîn, ú-dano i faelas a hyn an uben tanatha le faelas. *Show them no mercy, for you shall receive none!"

The Uruks stop a short distance from the wall, growling up at them.

"What's happening out there?" Gimli asked struggling to see over the wall.

"Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to find you a box?" Legolas smirked, looking down at Gimli.

Gimli looked up at the Elf and laughed. Ruive, who was standing on the other side of Gimli, snickered through her nose. She looked over and caught Legolas' eye, they nodded silently to each other before looking back out at the Uruk-Hai. They began to growl and pound their spears on the ground. Suddenly, one of the Uruks in the front line fell over dead, an arrow in his throat.

"Dartho!"(hold!) Aragorn shouted.

The Uruks growled and yelled before finally charging towards the great stone wall.
