"Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle Earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fall. Each race is bound to this fate, this one doom." Elrond spoke gazing around at those present before his eyes settled on Frodo.

"Bring forth the Ring, Frodo"

Frodo timidly rose to his feet and placed the Ring on the stone plinth in the middle of the circle.

"So it's true." Whispered Boromir, who sat next to Ruive.

The members of the council watched the Ring carefully, as though they expected it to do something as evil as the one who created it. Boromir spoke up.

"In a dream I saw the Eastern sky grow dark," He stood and slowly walk towards the Ring. "In the West a pale light lingered A voice was crying, your doom is near at hand. Isildur's bane is found." Boromir reached his hand out for the Ring.

"Isildur's Bane."

Elrond jumped to his feet.

"Boromir!"

The sky darkened as Gandlaf began chanting in Black Speech causing Boromir to real back.

"ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul." (One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them)

Elrond held his head in pain, while Legolas and Ruive visibly grimaced. The sky returned to its original state and Boromir sat down shocked.

"Never before has anyone uttered words of that tongue here in Imladris!" Elrond snapped, angered.

"I do not ask your pardon Master Elrond for the Black Speech of Mordor may yet be heard in every corner of the West. The Ring is altogether evil." Gandalf said before returning to his seat.

All eyes turned to Boromir as he spoke up again.

"Aye it is a gift!"

The man of Gondor rose to his feet and began walking around addressing the council.

"A gift to the foes of Mordor. Why not use this Ring ? Long has my father, the Steward of Gondor kept the forces of Mordor at bay. By the blood of our people are your lands kept safe. Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy, let us use it against him."

Ruive rolled her eyes, he was too much like his father. She had travelled to Gondor some years earlier and met the arrogant Steward and his two sons, Faramir seemed to be the only one who was pure hearted, though his father always favoured his elder brother.

"You cannot wield it. None of us can." She snapped, drawing his attention as well as the rest of the council.

Aragorn spoke up next before Ruive could let her anger get the better of her.

"The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master."

"And what would two mere rangers know of this matter?" Boromir sneered.

Ruive moved to defend Aragorn, but a certain blonde Elf beat her to it.

"These are no mere Rangers. He is Aragorn son of Arathorn, and she is Ruive of the Dagnir." Legolas snapped his eyes flickering to Ruive for a brief moment.

"You owe him your allegiance." Ruive stated rising to her feet.

Boromir looked at Aragorn and Ruive in disbelief.

"The Dragon Slayer! And Aragorn! This.. is Isildur's heir?"

"And heir to the throne of Gondor." Ruive hissed, all but glaring at Boromir.
