It was June 28. The sun was out and shining bright into Siren room. She got her black blankets and tried to cover her face up and fall back to sleep but the sun was too strong and shined through her blankets. She had finally decided to get up and face the world. She had been counting the days till she graduated. 456 as of today. As she got up to cross another day off her calendar she noticed that it was the worse day of her life. Not only was it her 16 birthday but it was also the day her dad left her and her mom for someone better 6 years ago.
She had no other option but to go on with the day. Siren went into the bathroom. It was blue with a window looking out to the front yard. The shower curtains were a light blue with red hearts all over them. The bathroom was cleaner then a bathroom in a 5 star restaurant. She looked into the mirror and saw a very sad teen. A girl with black hair with blue highlights. Someone who always wore black and always looked depressed. She saw a 5'4 teen girl that is very shy and does not believe that she should be alive.
"Sweetie, come down to eat," yelled Margot, Siren's mom.
"I will be down in a little." Siren yelled back. She was scared to see what her mom had done for her sweet 16 birthday. Siren's mom was short and strict but when it came to a party she was always so extravagant. Siren told her mom that she just wanted to spend the day alone with her best friend, Claire. After her dad left them 6 years ago Margot always tried to make Siren's birthdays better then the last.
"What did you make to eat for me today," asked Siren with an unpleasant voice. Her mom didn't say a word. She didn't even turn away from the stove. Siren already knew what that meant: she was crying. It was the same thing every year on her birthday.
"I'm sorry. Its all my fault that dad left us." Siren cried under her breath.
"Honey, It's not your fault that he left us." Margot cried.
"Yes it is. Why else would he have left us on my birthday." yelled Siren as she went running upstairs crying. After her dad left them she always felt like it was her fault that he did. She ran into her room and cried into her black pillow. Siren cried and cried till she felt like she had no more tears in her. Suicidal thoughts running through her mind.
Siren got up and took her depression medication. As she was doing so her mom walked into her room.
"Open you curtains. It is dark in here as it is with your black walls." said Margot as she opened the curtains. Siren just sat on her bed not saying a word Margot went up to Siren and hugged her as tight as she could.
"Come on, honey. You have school." Margot said trying to calm down. She existed the room with a fake smile in her face. Siren got up and started to get ready for school. She dressed in her ordinary clothes. Black jeans, a black shirt, black high tops, and a black hoodie.
"Let's go." Siren mumbled as she walked out the front gate door.
They were in the car when Margot started to apologized. She started to tear up when Siren interrupted.
"Mom, don't start. I don't need you to make me feel worse then I already do." Siren said under her breath. She was getting out of the car before her mom pulled her back.
"I love you. Have a nice day at school. " said Margot smiling. Siren had no word so she just walked out of the car.
