"Honey, stay awake with me. Please!" Margot cried trying to keep her daughter from fainting. The room was spining. There was no color to te room anymore. As time passed her eyes were closing. Siren hated having to get shots. She was scared of fainting. Her mom tried to keep her up by holding her body up on the chair. The pain was getting worse. Siren had to get 3 shots and take a urine test. Margot and Siren were in the hospital for five hours. They were both tired and hungry. They saw people come in and out of the hospital but still no news about what Siren had. There were machines everywhere they looked. People in pain everywhere they sat. People of different race, height, and age.
"How do you feel, honey?" Asked Margot with fear in her voice.
"Still in pain but not as much." Answered Siren.
"Hello. So we have the results for Siren Mays." The doctor said as he walked into the room.
"Yes that's me." Commented Siren.
"So, you have an infection called mononucleosis. It is passed on by saliva. It's nothing very serious but you can not share drinks, kiss, or share anything with others." The doctor announced the news. Siren was still in pain but was more calm then when she went to the hospital. It was 1:30 am when Margot and Siren went home.
"Do you still have the pain?" Asked Margot with consern.
"A little bit. I think I will be fine, mom." Answered Siren. She wanted to call Andy and tell him the news but she was scared that the news would change any of his decisions.
"So I just got home from the hospital and they told me I have something but before I tell you what I have I want to know your decision." Siren texted Andy. A couple of minutes later Andy called Siren to hear the news.
"Can you please just tell me what happened?" Asked Andy with curiosity.
"No. I first want to know your decision." Answered Siren.
"Well I haven't made a decision so I would love it if you told me. Siren loved Andy and she didn't want to keep anything from him.
"I have an infection in the spleen." Siren confessed with shame. No words were said after that. Siren just felt embarrassed about what she had.
¨It's called mononucleosis. It is passed on by saliva. The doctor said it would go away on its own but he said i can't kiss anyone, share anything with anyone.¨ Siren commented.
¨I am so sorry you had to go through all this.¨ Andy claimed. Siren was in tears. She felt like the world was coming down on her. The pain was to much for her to handle. She wanted to just go to school and forget about what was happening. Siren wanted to distract herself.
¨Well I should be going to school tomorrow. Hopefully it will help me forget about it.¨ Siren acknowledge as she stared at the stars outside her window. She prayed to God that everything would be fine. That she would not have to deal with anymore pain in her life. They had both fallen asleep but Siren's dreams were horrifying. She had a dream about how everywhere she went she was getting bullied about her infection. Somehow people found out about what she had. After getting bullied her whole life it was the first year of not getting bullied. Now that she had her infection her bulling came back. The dream had felt so real. She woke up in tears with her pillow all wet because of her tears. She was scared to go to sleep again. She was afraid that she would have the dream again. She decided to turn on the t.v. and try to forget about it all. About 20 minutes later she had fallen asleep.
It was 5:30 when her alarm went off. She had gotten up and woke up her mom.
¨Honey, you can not go the school today. Doctor's note said that you are not in a stable moment to go the school yet. He said that you could faint at school and end up in the hospital again. We could not have that my darling.¨ Margot claimed in a sleepy voice.
"Mom, please!" Siren cried.
"NO IS NO SIREN!" Margot yelled. Siren ran to her room crying. She did not want to be home. She wanted to be at school, learning and forgetting that she was sick. Her spleen started to hurts again but it was not as bad as the night before. She felt so lonely. No one had texted her.
It was 1:40 pm and she had been crying since 12 pm. She had no more color in her face. It looked like she was about to faint. She was scared about what was going to happen between her and Andy. She had not trusted anyone with her life secrets for a while. She did not know why but she trusted Andy with her life. She felt so close to him. If he was to leave her she would have trust issues with everyone she would come to meet in her life. She had the most negative thoughts about her life. She felt unsafe at home.
"Siren, honey, how do you feel?" Margot asked over the phone.
"I feel fine, mom." Siren answered.
"Well if you need anything just call me. I am so sorry that I could not be home with you, sweetie." Margot claimed.
"I will, mom and it is fine. I know you have to go to work." Siren commented.
"Remember no people over."
"Why would you even say that. Do you not trust me.?" Asked siren.
"I have to go. Bye. I love you." Margot said as she hung up the phone. Siren felt much anger in her. She wondered why her mom did not answer her question. She had stopped crying and decided that she would turn cold hearted.
