Jakes POV
"You tried to kill my mate!" I snarl at James. He narrows his eyes at me. "Why would I try to kill Anne?!" He growls pushing me back out of his face. My wolf growls taking over. I grab James and slam him against the tree! "You are a lier!" He tries to shove me backwards, but I don't move. I smirk. Not so bad are you big boy?"Get off me Jake! I didn't try to kill Anne!" This time he shoves me away, growling. "What is wrong with you?" I hear a little sheep voice call out to me. I turn and my eyes widen.
Anne. I don't move. Her face falls and I can sense her sadness. But somethings different, I just can't place my finger on it. "You don't want me." She turns away, but that's when I swiftly make my way to her picking off her off the ground. She squeals shocked.
"Why would you think I wouldn't want you Anne?" I growl. My wolf doesn't say anything. "Because I'm human." I turn her to face me. I look her up and down, then realize why my wolf is quiet because our mate is human.
"How?" A small tear escapes her eye, but she harshly wipes it away. "I'm sorry Jake, I didn't have a choice. I would've been Marvin's forever. I had to get rid of the marking and my curse. There was a price to pay and I paid it in full. If you don't want me I understand." Her voice breaks.
I shake my head and pull her into my chest. "I love you Anne. I don't care if you are human. It wasn't our mate bond that made me love you or made me want to protect you it was the fact that I loved my wolf girl. That I love you Anne for you. I don't want no one else but you."
She looks into my eyes and I can see her admiration. Something I seen our entire life's that I thought we could never have, but now as I stand here with her in my arms I know that we can. I kiss her on the lips.
She pulls away. "I love you Jake." She looks away from me and laughs her light beautiful laugh. Then I look to see James cringing, but he smiles nonetheless. I run my finger down her silky black hair and she smiles.
"I think I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Who knew if you kept chasing it, it would be there." She whispers and I pull her in for another thirsty kiss.
But then I release her to do something I really need to do. I make my way over to James. He raises his eyebrows in suspicion. "I'm sorry brother." I reach my hand out to shake his and he takes it.
"I forgive you brother, but if you ever do blame me again there will be war." He laughs, but I understand that there is no humor in what he said. Anne makes her way over to us and pulls us into a tight hug. James looks at her hungrily.
"And the same for you brother." I whisper in his ear. And I know he gets the message not to mess with my Anne ever again. He looks into my eyes and I look back with the same intense glare. The animal instincts never change. I understand his threat, but I won't think about it today. He looks away first.
"What now?" I shake my head and smile down at her. "We make up for our lost time." She smiles brightly a breath taking smile.
In fact I can feel the happiness of my wolf. The sun light shines in her hair. I don't think she'll ever understand that she'll be much more than human.
I see it in her movements. The way she calibrates her every move and how she watches her back at all times even with James and I both her. She still holds her animal instincts. As for the vampire part of her I never seen that, maybe it was just part of one of her traits, but it never came to the surface.
She's had her moments stolen of the possibilities of things she could be, but in the end I believe she still got to choose. And I've never loved a human more. That's when she kisses me.
She pulls way her beautiful baby blue eyes staring into mine. "But this isn't the end Jake. The White Witch lives." I hear the fear in her voice.
But I can sense her strength. Anne's never been the one to be weak. She'd fight even if it cost her life or what she is and that's what she did. She defied fate and broke the curse. I pull her into my arms and tilt her head to the side.
I places kisses on her porcelain skin. Then I bite down on her neck. No one said you couldn't mark a human. I hear her gasp. I know it causes her pain, but this time I'm not losing her. I grab her before she falls into her world of sleep.
Rest now Anne because when you awake you are forever mine. You will not be the one that got away. James nobs his head. "Let's go home brother." I carry Anne's small body in my arms. My precious wolf girl you are mine.
