Luke spent the rest of the week with heaps of questions being thrown at him every day by his friends.

He couldn't help but feel like the center of attention, most of the time.

It wasn't exactly the attention he wanted, which was attention from girls, but it was a close second.

Whenever he'd cross paths with Arabella at school, he still couldn't help but feel awkward around her. Who wouldn't, though? She looked so intimidating compared to other people who went to his school. And Luke felt so small whenever he was around her, despite the fact that he felt the complete opposite when they hung out at his house.

She was probably the only girl who ever cared enough to interact with Luke. Most girls flirted with him as an excuse to copy his Math homework, or to get him to do their English paper.

But Arabella was real, and she wasn't bitchy enough to use Luke in that way. Sure, she was a bitch at times, but mostly in the sarcastic way.

They spent a lot of the time they had together working on the project, and getting to know each other at the same time.

He found out a lot about Arabella. Like the fact that she played 5 instruments, making her basically a musical prodigy, and that she spoke 2 languages, English and French. He also learned the reason why her family decided to move to America, instead of staying in the U.K., the only place she's ever know her whole life.

But still, even though he had all this information on her, and his friendship was genuine, he couldn't even look her in the eye without feeling guilty about the bet.

He felt like he was just using her to prove his friends wrong. Which technically he was trying to prove them wrong, but he wasn't really using her.

"Are you excited for our project?" Arabella asked, as she doodled words in fancy writings onto strips of paper. Luke nodded slightly, his mind somewhere else as he was typing on his computer.

He'd left all the arts and crafts stuff to Arabella while he worked on the essay part.

"I think it's cute that you guys have that prom thing here. We never really had those things back in Brighton. Or I guess they did, but they were called 'formals' instead." Arabella rambled. "Yeah. I don't think I'm going." Luke mentioned, thinking about the fact that he didn't even have anyone to ask, even though it was months away.

"Why don't you just go stag?" She asked. "Is that what you call it?"

"Because that's embarrassing." Luke replied, in a serious tone. Arabella didn't say anything, she just continued drawing letters.

"I'm sure there are plenty of girls at school who would love to go to prom with you." She mentioned, several minutes later.

He shook his head as he stifled a laugh.

"If girls don't even want to talk to me at school, then what makes them want to go to prom with me. They're not that desperate." He continued.

"Whatever you say," She scoffed.

"Suddenly you're acting like you know everything. You need to chill out, Arabella. You've been here for a week." Luke snapped, rolling back from his desk. "You don't know me. You may think you do, but the fact is, you don't. Not at all." He continued, Arabella wide-eyed as he ranted.

"Okay, I think we're done for tonight." She sighed, collecting her papers and stuffing them into her backpack.

"Yeah," He stammered, standing up from his chair to help her. "I got it." She mumbled, stepping away from him.

He led her down the stairs and to the door, opening it for her.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Luke." She said, stepping out. "Yeah," He muttered.

"Bella, wait-" He stuttered, causing her to stop in her tracks as she walked to her car. "Nevermind." He continued, unsure of what to say.

He didn't want to say anything else and fuck things up even more, like he seemed to do all the time.
