"I had the worst hangover on Saturday. It literally felt like somebody took a drill to my head. Oh god," Michael groaned, resting his head on the table.

"Dude, I was high as hell. I think I was having hallucinations, because I thought I saw Luke there, and then Ashton started making out with Arabella." Calum laughed.

Luke didn't say anything, he just stared at Calum, wondering if he should tell him that he wasn't having hallucinations.

"Oh, no. You weren't having hallucinations at all, mate." Ashton smirked, Calum proceeding to give him a pat on the back, and Michael ruffling his curly hair.

Luke's mouth formed an 'o' shape.

"You weren't drunk?" He asked, his blue eyes wide. Ashton shook his head.

"Why do you care? It's not like you actually have feelings for her. It's a fucking bet, man." Ashton shrugged, tossing his apple in the air and catching it.

Luke felt small, slumped in his chair. "You're right. I don't care. I shouldn't." He stated.

"It's just a bet. She's just a bet. And she's a lesbian too, so it doesn't matter." He reminded himself, the school bell ringing as he finished his sentence.

The whole cafeteria stood up simultaneously, picking up their things to make their way to class.

Luke looked to Arabella, whose hair was blocking the view of her face.

She walked through the double doors, out to the hallway. He sprinted after her, slowing down when he caught up.

"Hey," He greeted, in between breaths. "Luke." She replied, her eyes looking straight ahead.

"We haven't spoken the whole week, what's up?" He asked, clutching his book to his chest.

"The usual." She replied, brushing her hair away from her face.

"Okay," He continued, "First of all, if you're going to tell me that I'm your only friend, dont leave me hanging when I try to care about you." He complained, Arabella stopping in her tracks.

"What?" She questioned, furrowing her eyebrows, Luke mentally face palming himself.

"Uh, I-" He stuttered, biting his lip. "Listen, I'm sorry for avoiding you, Luke, but that's just how I am." She explained, her voice never wavering once. "I open up to people, and then when they start caring, I shut them out."

Luke nodded, at a loss of words. He didn't know how to fix it, because this time, he didn't mess up.

"Please don't shut me out, Arabella." He mumbled.

She didn't say anything, just hugged him, her arms wrapping around his long torso. He quickly swung his arms around her body, squeezing her until she couldn't breathe.

"Okay, yeah, that's enough." She said, pulling away.

They continued to walk to their classes, never speaking a single word to each other.

Luke felt as if she just didn't want to talk, and just needed someone physically present to care about her, not someone asking questions and comforting her by telling her 'it's okay'.
